Success after IF

What does your toddler eat for breakfast?

I feel like I'm giving him the same things every morning, I need some new ideas.  When he was about 1, maybe a little older he would eat oatmeal several times a week, now he won't even try it

Re: What does your toddler eat for breakfast?

  • My little one is 3 and she is stuck on the same things!!!    They usually consist of:

    French Toast Sticks

    Scrambled Eggs

    Pancakes

    Fruit

    Oatmeal

Bagel with either cream cheese or pb&j

    Sausage links or patties

She LOVES carbs, just like her mamma!!!

  • We need new ideas too. Elizabeth's been stuck in a waffle and banana rut for a few weeks, but since it's fast and easy when we're trying to get out the door on time, I go with it.

Last night I made zucchini carrot muffins. This morning she saw them, called them cupcakes and chowed down. Who am I to argue?! I threw in flax meal and used applesauce instead of oil to make them healthier.

  • pancakes, french toast, waffles (store bought), berries, bananas, cereal with milk- usually rice krispies, scrambled eggs with cheese, cheerios.  I hear you on the oatmeal. Jake will eat a few bites of mine, but that's it.  I'd love for him to eat it more.

I had made some muffins from deceptively delicious that had pb, carrots and bananas in them.  He liked them but I think there was too much sugar.  I need to go through the book again and see of there is anything else I can make him.

  • Wow, your kids get awesome breakfasts!

My kid gets baby oatmeal with peanut butter stirred in almost every day. His doctor told me to continue to feed him baby cereal every day, and he'll only eat it with PB, so...

He's very picky. Won't touch eggs or french toast. He used to refuse pancakes, too, but we tried them yesterday and he ate three, so I guess I'll put that back on the menu!

Once in a while he'll have toast with peanut butter or cream cheese.

I'm just happy if he'll eat. Period.

  • DD is a pretty picky eater. She used to eat yogurt, oatmeal, or cereal (either dry or with milk) every morning along with 1/2 banana. Now she won't touch yogurt. She'll pretty much only eat oatmeal, and she won't always eat that. She loves cheese, so toast with cheese works too. Sometimes she'll eat a cereal bar or homemade muffin. I'd love to give her pancakes or eggs, but she won't touch either. The joys of toddlerhood :)

  • Mark eats a whole banana and a yogurt everyday.  And then besides that he also gets some else depending on what we have, cereal bar, scrambled egg, waffle, pancake or cereal.

Today he had: strawberry banana yogurt, 1 1/2 bananas, a handful of golden grahams (my breakfast) and an egg scrambled with cheese and 2 pieces of ham.

He gets fruit every morning I just feel like I could be doing better.

  • pancakes almost every day, occasionally waffles, with pureed fruit or veggies mixed in (he will not eat any fruits or veggies unless they are disguised)

  • Charlie and Lily share a banana every morning and then have one of the following:

    - waffles and yogurt
    - scrambled egg and a few mini pancakes
    - peanut butter pancakes (peanut butter sandwiched between two mini pancakes)
    - french toast

That's really all that's in our rotation. I always give them a handful of yogurt melts after their meal too. Oh - and mine won't eat oatmeal anymore either - unless I'm eating it and then they're all about mooching. Stick out tongue

You know, I've never thought to give them cereal with milk. I have some Rice Krispies...maybe I'll give them each a small bowl for snack later and see what they think.

  • I make a big batch of homemade waffles every 2-3 weeks, freeze them and he has one every morning along with a side of fruit and sometimes Cheerios if he's extra hungry.

  • Quick breakfast:

    - Toast or 1/2 bagel w/peanut butter

    - Cheerios w/milk and cut up bananas

    - Eggos w/butter

     When I have more time:

    - Egg over easy on piece of toast with a slice of cheese and slice of cooked ham - believe it or not, she loves this!  She tears it all up though and eats it in her own way  :)

    - Homemade french toast

  • On weekdays Cal has 2 full straw cups of a smoothie made with banana, frozen blueberries, frozen strawberries (banana & blueberries are always consistent; sometimes we switch up the other fruit), sometimes ginger, sometimes probiotics, yogurt, milk, ground flax seed, peanut butter (or other nut butter), and molasses.  It's very filling and has dairy, fruit, protein, and fiber, so a pretty balanced meal.  He has a snack at his babysitter's around 9:30, but the smoothie is his actual breakfast.

On weekends we have oatmeal pancakes or oatmeal or eggs, but he still always asks for smoothie (or, as he calls it, "hmee-hmoo")!
