Success after IF

He's asleep in the big boy bed!

(Box spring removed, bed rails up, etc.)

I give him a half hour, LOL. Only had to lay with him about 8 minutes for him to fall asleep (vs. 15 mins. of rocking usually) but he was wiped today from a short nap and a lot of fun/activity.

What are the rules about pillows/blankets/etc. once they're safely toddlers? I've got a couple pancake-y pillows wedged in the gap between the mattress/headboard due to having the mattress lower than intended, he's sleeping on a toddler pillow, and the entire foot of the bed is a stack of pillow pets and stuffed animals. Is this a "no-no"? Usually in his crib he'd have his puppy and be sleeping on a thick quilt but no other pillows and stuff. In our bed, tons of pillows but we're keeping a better eye and he sleeps away from them.

  • Good job momma!

This is Charlie's bed- pillow, matress, boxspring no rails... He only fell out once! :-)

2 lovey's, 2 stuffed monkeys who both happen to be wearing diapers today. 3 lose blankies, a sheet and a comforter. Oh and a small sippy of milk.

Once they are like 6 months old they can move things away from their face- he's just fine!!!!

  • Woo! That's great! I would think he's fine to have whatever he/you want in his bed :). I hope tonight is the beginning of good things!!
  • Yeah for you, momma!  We are so not close to a big girl bed.

  • At that age DS started sleeping with a tennis racket, golf club, soccer ball and often while holding his baseball mitt.  I'm sure whatever he sleep best with is fine.

    Congratulations!  May this continue.

  • Yay!!  Hope it's an all night sleep!  =)
Good luck!!  Can't wait for a big boy bed for Aiden.

  • He woke up after exactly an hour (to the minute) - about the same as usual in the crib lately. But DH laid with him and got him back to sleep in about 5 minutes, whereas normally we'd bring him to our bed. Don't have high hopes but we'll see!

  • Awww That's awesome that he went back to sleep!

FYI- Charlie was not good at sleeping through the night until we moved him into his twin bed. I think he likes the room and can wiggle around without hitting crib rails!

  • still asleep?????

ps -Ava has a bed full of stuff, and has always slept with her blankie over her face. I used to freak, but now I know she'll move it if necessary.

  • Awesome.  Maybe this is the key to his success!  I wouldn't worry about extra "stuff" in his bed at this point. Hope he continues to sleep well for you.

  • I have the girls in toddler beds, no boxspring and half rails.  They've fallen out a time a two but just crawled back in and went to sleep.

They each other a pillow pet, a decorative pillow and a comforter set w/ full size pillow on their bed, along with their loveys and "lankies" .
