I Love My Mother But....

She just drives me crazy sometimes.  DH is out of town for a week, so she volunteered to come stay w/ me; she lives 3 hours away; I figured she'd come for a day or 2.  But she got in yesterday and is staying until Thursday...... I just didn't have the b*lls to tell her I didn't want her staying that long.

In the brief time she's been there she's already said the following: if you're pro-choice you aren't a Christian, told me I should get rid of some of my dogs when the baby comes, asked how I lived w/ so many dogs, told me how big my stomach was and asked "now how many more weeks do you have?"..... Ugh, and those are just the main points.  I love her but she can just be so judgemental and condescending its makes me want to lose my mind........

    Oh no!!!  That sounds very trying.  Maybe you should rent a bunch of non-controversial movies to watch with her each night, and then go to bed early.  ;)  Minimize conversation.

    Sounds like interactions with my mom (whose coming this Wednesday -- I'm already dreading the comments and looks about Natalie not yet STTN).  I like ECU's idea -- time will go by faster that way.

    Yeah...there's no way I could allow a 4-5 day stay by my mother. hehe. I'd lose my mind, no doubt about that!

    I will say she's been great about my pregnancy for the most part. Well, at least not asking "how much weight have you gained?" like I figured she would. Once the baby's here though, all bets are off. She knows everything.

    Ugh!  Why can't people keep their opinions and comments to themselves?  I think we all have people in our lives like that, and although I try to stay away from them, family is family.  But it's still so annoying!!

    My grandfather and I have completely different political and economical opinions.  Since I know this, I prefer NOT to discuss this type of thing with him, since I usually just get annoyed and worked up. You'd think now, given that I'm pregnant and he knows I get worked up, he'd seriously stop talking about that and talk about something else, but no.  So I don't call him much anymore.  Then he complains that I never call him.  GRRR!

    I have no idea how or why it just posted 3 blank messages from me....

    I was trying to respond to ECU and say thats a great idea!  We watched HGTV last night but I still kept muting all the commercials so I didn't have to hear her commentary on all the election ads!

    I can completely sympathize with you. I'd kill my mother after 3 days because she always has an opinion or comment. It's even worse with pregnancy because she is a labor and delivery nurse and of course, she knows everything. That's why she will not be in the delivery room with me. If she started telling the nurses what to do, I'd come off the table and smack her. Hopefully keeping her busy will make time go faster for you.
