Does anyone have any ideas how I can pull off a baby shower with a construction theme? This is my first grandchild, (a Boy) and I want it to be wonderful, but the theme is very challenging. I realize it is an unusual theme for a baby shower, but, Mommy to be really LOVES the idea as both Papaw & Daddy to be are heavy equipment operators. I seriously want it to look like a baby shower rather than a birthday party. I will greatly appreciate any ideas or suggestions. Thank you in advance! Mamaw to be.

I don't have any suggestions...but my mom goes by Mamaw also...never heard of anyone else before! Mamaw's make the best grandmas!
There are a ton of construction themed stuff out there. Just about every invitation website has construction themed invites. And just about every bakery I've been to offers a construction site cake.
You could buy a bunch of matchbox construction vehicles to put out on the tables. Use brown tablecloths (fabric or paper would be fine) so it looks like the trucks are driving around in dirt. You could keep the vehicles for her child to play with when they get older, so they don't go to waste.
Get some cheap plastic hard hats for the guests to wear.
Put munchies in some bigger trucks (fill a dump truck bed with chips for example). Again, whatever trucks you use can be kept for later use.
Get one of those old style metal lunch boxes for greeting cards on the gift table (some people will probably bring a card w/ a gift card instead of a wrapped gift).
This one is actually kinda fun to run with. I like it better than the typical baby shower animal themes.
My mom's mom is our Mammaw. It's a common one here. My mom will go by Mimi.
My cousin did a dumptruck cake for her son's birthday... got a large Tonka truck and filled the back with crumbled (and iced) cake, making it spill over onto a board like it was dumping it out. Not really easy to serve, but it was really cute and matched the theme perfectly.
Here's some links for you to check out. A lot of them are for birthdays, but if you work around the stuff that says Happy Birthday, it would work perfect. I think this sounds fun and neat. It's awesome that you want to do such a nice job...you are great!
Bob the Builder - Kids cartoon with a construction theme, I'm sure they have tons of party decorations for like kids parties that could transfer to a shower. His theme is "Can we fix it? Yes we can!" Maybe take a play off that and have a contest, like get a larger clothes hamper or something and see if guests can fill it with diapers/wipes. You could change his saying to "Can we fill it?" etc. Good luck!
