packing food for SO?

Im just wondering what other people are packing for their SO to eat during labor. I would like him to stay with me the whole time since I have never been through this before and he will be the only one in the room with me. So far all I have is some beef jerky. Which I kno will not be enough to satisfy this guys hunger. lol Any input or suggestions would be great.

Re: packing food for SO?

  • I packed Oreos and Skittles. There are places to get food easily right at the hospital so if H wants to run out I won't mind.

  • I have packaged cheese and crackers, assorted chips, peanuts (our hospital isn't nut-free), and cookies. There are also about 50 restaurants in town that deliver, so I know he won't starve. :)

  • Our OB unit had a "nutrition nook"- DH was able to help himself to a variety of drinks and snacks. He was also able to order a guest tray for $5 from room service that they brought to him so he could stay with me. I'd check with the hospital before you go packing a ton of stuff :)

  • Our hospital has vending machines on the L&D floor. Check into that. With DS, he went and got lunch at the hospital cafeteria while I rested during labor. He wasn't gone long, and it really wasn't a big deal. My MW told him when it was a good time to go because I still had a while of labor.

  • Well, being that I won't be going in until I can't walk... nothing. That man ain't going to be eating ANYTHING in front of me while I'm in pain and hungry!

  • DH can order a guest tray for $4 so if he wants a meal he will do that but snack-wise we are bringing fiber one bars and some "happy baby" baby food pouches (he LOVES these things and thinks they should be marketed to adults on the go...)
  • We have a running supply of granola bars and various other 'snacks' that go into his everyday lunches so I'm just throwing a handful of those in. There are a couple restaurants/fast food places within 5 minutes of the hospital (Panera, Dunkin Donuts, etc) so if he wants more than that, he can go get it while I'm sleeping.
  • Peanut butter crackers, granola bars, maybe a muffin.  He probably won't eat anything, though.

  • My husband has a large appetite and a small tolerance for being hungry.  We a book bag of sunflower seeds, beek jerky, trail mixes, dried fruit, and some green tea for energy.  The last thing I need is for his butt to be cranky when I'm that uncomfortable--I would probably kill him.  If food keeps that at bay, I'm all for whatever he wants to bring.  I've watched him drink all throughout my pregnancy (obviously not over-drinking but when he's having  beer and you want a glass of red wine it still sucks); I can get through a day of him eating in front of me.
