In Home Daycare

How do you find in home daycares in the area???  I'm the first one of my friends to have a child and I don't know where to start!

Re: In Home Daycare

  • I know of a few options, but I'm sure others will have more suggestions:

Post on the DC Urban Moms Forum daycare page for suggestions.

Go through the Montgomery County website (I assume you're in Montgomery County?).

There's a spreadsheet floating around this chat board, if you scroll around, someone asked for it recently. Or you can page Artslvr, I think she created it.

    Good luck!

  • i'm in arlington, and the country website had a list of daycares.  i figured out how far each was from my house and then started cold calling.

Ditto. I went on the website and I could see how long they had been licensed, any violations, where they were located, hours etc. It really helped narrow down who to call.

  • Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.
  • I started with the MD LOCATE page and used that to cross references places advertised on Craig's List (so that I knew that had openings). There's also an MD list of daycare violations and licenses. I can't find it right now, but it tells you when they were last inspected and any infractions.
