Update on Baby Liam

Hey ladies,

It's been a full 8 days since Liam was born and I'm happy to report he is thriving! He was able to come home from the NICU the same day I was discharged from the hospital on Monday evening. He was taken off his breathing tube and oxygen after 24 hours and his feeding tube and antibiotics were taken out at 48 hours. He was only moving uphill from there. So happy he is doing great.

I'm recovering from the C-Section well ... really sore but doing good. Breastfeeding is turning out to be harder than I imagined. But that's partially because I didn't even get to hold Liam until day 2. And we didn't spend the night in the same room until we got home. I'm pumping and bottle feeding and trying to breast feed during the day, but he does not want to latch on even with the nipple shield.

The emotions are a crazy ride. Every day I find myself crying over something small or nothing at all but my DH has been amazing through the whole process. I'm lucky to have him here and my mom here helping me.

I'm so happy to see that some of us have had great deliveries and that the others are continuing with healthy pregnancies. I still would love to communicate with everyone on the Feb '11 board even though Liam decided to come in January.

We want you to stay here! So glad to hear that Liam is doing well, and try to hang in there with BFing! I have heard it can be really difficult, but if you keep trying its possible. I am sure hearing about your journey will be really helpful for those of us that are still a'cookin' so please keep us updated! Also, if you feel frustrated feel free to post, we are happy to listen to ya whine! Also, I know we have some moms on here who have been really successful BF'ers in the past:) ((hugs)) You got this momma!

Breastfeeding can be really, really hard, but you're doing really well to have not given up yet. Liam is hugely benefitting from whatever you give him!
