Rice Ceral Question

Does your LO take a whole serving?  I mixed one tablespoon of ceral and 4 tablespoons of BM?(according to the directions). Does that sound about right? Can I split it in half  and refridgerate it for the next day, or does it need to be fresh each day? OR should I just do a half tablespoon of Ceral and two of BM? I just don't want to waste the BM.

Re: Rice Ceral Question

  • I started off with a T of cereal, and then however much bm it took to get the consistency I liked.  I honestly never really measured the bm.  I never made it too runny b/c I knew I wasn't going to feed DD purees, so I didn't want her to get used to a thinner consistency. I say start with the cereal, pour a little milk in, see if she'll take it and add more milk if necessary.  I think it'd be fine refrigerated for a day or two-as long as the bm is fresh and not thawed out.

  • I don't measure the cereal at all. I dump an oz of formula in and then just put cereal in until I get it to a good consistency. Like PP I don't like it so runny --and DD does better when its not too thick or too thin. In the beginning she didn't eat the whole thing. Now she eats the whole oz AND a whole thing of fruit/veggie.

I'm sure its fine to make it and divide in half, but I think the fridge might make it stiff and then you'd need to microwave it to warm it a little, which might also make it stiff. I'd probably just make it fresh every day.

  • My DS eats 2tbsp cereal with 3tbsp water mixed in AND half a container of fruit at breakfast and lunch. At dinner he eats 3tbsp cereal with 4.5tbsp water and a whole thing of veggies... I have a piggy on my hands! But the 2tbsp cereal with 3tbsp water doesn't make it too thick or runny.

  • I never used the 4 Tbsp like the directions said.  I think I used 1 or 2, so that it was thicker.  When he was first adjusting to solids and I only made that small amount I'd toss what he didn't eat.  The first time he tried it he wasn't that into it, so I waited a few more weeks before trying it again.

Now we're up to 3Tbsp cereal and 4Tbsp of milk.

This exactly! Its more about consistency with our LO. She likes it thicker more than runny and I dont use exact measurements
