SSM St. Clare-Fenton is amazing! Had the most wonderful birth experience there. The staff is great and the rooms are HUGE! It was really like staying in a hotel and not a hospital. I highly recommend it.
Most ppl I know love st johns. I am not going there just because it is so busy. I am going to Progress West in O'fallon. So much more peaceful. You can tour each hospital and ask them questions. That should help you make up your mind.
I delivered at St. John's, and I loved it. The nurses are amazing, and they took excellent care of both my daughter and me. They are very nursing friendly - their LCs are awesome.
I had a great experience at MoBap, the staff was awesome. I wanted a unmedicated/natural birth and was able to do so without any problems. Would highly recommend! I think all the hospitals have a tour of the labor and delivery, so that might help you make your decision once you get it narrowed down to 1 or 2.
I'm going to Progress West, but I have heard great things about St. John's. I think they are equipped to handle pretty much anything in their NICU. So far, my pregnancy has had no complications and baby seems to be doing fine so I am going to Progress; if there were any concerns I would go to St. John's.
I had my baby at St. Luke's and my experience was great! All of the nurses were nice and made you feel well taken care of. They were helpful and not condescending, They also have a lactation store with consultants, who are very helpful with breastfeeding, and that way if you still need nursing supplies you can get them before you go home (their prices are similar to Target's for pumps and supplies). They have nice large rooms with a table, rocking chair, and fold-out sofa for the daddy. We didn't need a NICU, so I'm not able to give you a recommendation for that.
They have a program where you can call ahead and meet with a nurse so she can help you with any questions you have, give you a tour, help you pick out birthing classes, and whatever else you may need.
Their classes were nice, too. We had to do the fast track one and were satisfied with it.
Overall, for someone who dislikes hospitals, I was very comfortable at St. Luke's. I highly recommend them. My Sister in law had her baby there a month ago and while visiting I noticed that all the nurses were equally nice and helpful, so I'm pretty sure it's like that all the time.
