Last night I asked my DH to make a list of some names that he liked and he certainly did. He came up with a few different names for sure. Just thought I would share, may give you a little giggle
Boys:
Slade (eeeww)
Blake
Chase
Baxter or Baxton (bleh)
Leland
Vipen (yeah.um.no)
Girls:
Lilac
Violet ( with this and Lilac, I think he likes purple) Love the name Violet tho!!
Lacey
Viola (lol, really?)
Phoenix with the nn Nix ( I must admit, I kind of like this one even though it goes against my style)
Dakota
Re: DH's outside the box list...
I love Leland
I like Chase Violet and Viola
I HATE Phoenix. Have you ever been there? Awful.
In order I like Chase and Blake, then all others are tied for last.
For girls, I like Violet and Lacey (although my neighbors dog is Lacy, so hard to hear for a real name now).
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Boys:
Slade - Hahahhaa! Big no. lol
Blake - I'll never like this name.
Chase - It's OK, but I don't like it.
Baxter or Baxton - Baxter is nice. Baxton is yuck.
Leland - That's interesting. NMS, but it's a nice name.
Vipen - Laugh-Out-Loud!
Girls:
Lilac - Like. It's a nice name.
Violet - LOVE!
Lacey - Stripper.
Viola - This was a relative's name of mine. I tend to like it, but it reminds me too much of the instrument to ever use it.
Phoenix with the nn Nix - Nix is a headlice medication, so I'm gonna say no to the nickname. Phoenix is actually NMS, but I'd prefer it on a boy.
Dakota - Yuck.

I agree with all of this EXACTLY, except I did not know that Nix was a lice medicine lol ewww.
Oh wow! Slade is pretty bad (has he ever watched Real Housewives of OC?). Baxter is totally a dogs name and Baxton is way out there! Leland reminds me of Dog the Bounty Hunter's kid with the wicked pony tail and shaved side hair. Where did he even come up with Vipen? Some of these made me lol. Blake and Chase are decent though.
I do like Violet, but the other girl names are NMS - especially Phoenix and Dakota.
Rude.
to the OP or to the capital of Arizona?
(read it. you know you want to.)

While I know that Phoenix is a place name, my thoughts immediately go to the mythical creature. It does absolutely nothing for me and I think saddling a kid with it is just too much.
Violet is nice, and the rest--people try way too hard sometimes.
And I apologize for my last comment--I got this post confused with the classmates list above it.
I absolutely agree with that! His list was all in fun for the most part, we would never use any of those names. Some for obvious reasons
I agree with all of this. I do hope his list is "all in fun", because DAMN it's bad!!!
For those that consider Lacey to be a stripper name - I don't want to sound defensive, but my name is Laci and I'm not a stripper...I'm actually an educated, family oriented person - far from a stripper! I have met a few other Laceys in my time and not one of them was a stripper or promiscuous... LOL. Personally I like my name a lot and i find it feminine, not stripper-y. Am I missing something? Is there a stripper with the name Lacey that I have never heard of? JW bc I've heard this comment about the name before on this board.
I know everyone's entitled to their opinion but my opinion is that it's kind of unfair that negative stereotypes are put on names.
So as far as the name Lacey, I like I also love Lilac and Violet for girls and Blake and Chase for boys.
I also love Lilac and Violet for girls and Blake and Chase for boys.
EDD 1/5/13
My DH's grandfather's name was Tiberius... so we might be using it as a MN. But not with a y. That just looks weird to me. And I wouldn't use it if it wasn't a family name.
I like Lacy an Violet. I know a guy named Slade and I like him, but I've always disliked his name.
If YH is into "purple" I had a student who was Violet her older sister was Amethyst.
I also grew up w/a Leland and always thought that was a pretty unique but not odd name.
