Tylenol Suppositories?

Katies fever hasn't broken since it came on yesterday at 1pm.  It will go down to about 102 then go back up.  Tylenol every 4 hours is barely doing anything and we can't give mortin because her surgery is on wednesday.  I've tried a cool bath but that only brought it down a little and once her hair dried (very quickly i might add) her fever went back up.  We also tried alcohol.  A few weeks ago the supposititories were suggested but I don't know where to look or if they will help more.

Re: Tylenol Suppositories?

  • We got the suppositories from either Target or Walgreens.  I can't remember for sure, we had to call around to quite a few stores before finding any.  Call your local pharmacy, they have them behind the counter because they are stored in the refrigerator.  Don't waste your time just going out blindly, as we learned, call first.

  • Poor baby! You might want to have your pedi or surgeon paged. Eliza has to have general anesthesia for her MRI next week and they won't do it if she had a fever within 7 days, so you may get rescheduled and be able to give motrin after all. Hope it breaks soon!!

  • I called them yesterday.  They said give tylenol and to "hang in there, we're almost there" oh and keep her on an antibiotic.

Oh good! At least they aren't canceling. Maybe bc Eliza's is just diagnostic.

Thanks. They need to get a look at her spine - they are concerned she has tethered cord. Which would mean that instead of her spinal cord floating freely in the spinal column, it would be attached to tissue and compressing nerves.

  • I love the suppositories.  They work really fast.  Unfortunately, I found out (the hard way) that little DD has an allergy to something in the binding agent so we can't use them anymore.  But they're a dream.  And VERY hard to find, so yeah, I ditto the Call Ahead suggestion.

    Good Luck!

  • Call around, if they can't find them call your ped! I had to use when Brady was little and I couldn't find them anywhere so long behold my ped had them!

Also Sharfts (i think that is how you spell it) in livingston pretty much has everything. I know that is probably about a half hour from you that is a good place to start as well.

I also think Hackensack Hospital has a pharmacy that fills RX for non patients and if memory serves me right my friend had to go there for some not so normal OTC stuff!
