Drs. Appts, has your SO been to all of them with you?

Geez, I sooo cannot sleep tonight. So I'll hang out here.

So do your husbands, boyfriends, partners go to ALL your Drs appts with you? I don't know what the protocol is for this. So far my DH has only been to the u/s appt. I didn't have him come to the nurses appt (because all they did was ask questions and take my blood) or to my first Dr. appt because it was really just an exam and I figured he didn't NEED to be there. My next Dr. appt is next week. I'll only be 15 weeks and a few days along so there will be no ultrasound or anything...does my Dr. expect him to be there? Am I weird for not asking him to come?

So do you bring yours to every appt? What even happens at the second appt? I had a Pap and exam and all that fun stuff last month...what do they do next?

Most of the appointments are really not that big of a deal unless you are getting an ultrasound or have any special issues. If DH hasn't heard the heartbeat, he might want to come for that. But my DH only comes for u/s since we have a doppler at home. At a 15 week appointment they will weigh you, have you pee in a cup, take your blood pressure, listen for the heartbeat, feel your abdomen and ask how you are doing. That is how most appointments will go.

They might schedule your next u/s, but you probably don't need DH for that.

Nope! My hubs has a job, and can't take time off every couple of weeks (which is how frequent my appointments are because of my "special" uterus). It's really not abnormal to show up alone at all.

He heard the heartbeat and teared up at the first ultrasound (such a softie)

I did get a sneak peak at our drs appt the next week because she couldn't find a heartbeat (scariest moment of my life!) so she grabbed the portable u/s machine and did a quick look.

But yeah, my hubs works A LOT and just got a promotion at work...I don't want him taking off time to see me hand over a cup of pee and get weighed! So...I think just u/s it is! And maybe further down the road so he can meet my OB before the big day.

My FI went to my first appt when they did an ultrasound and he'll go to the anatomy scan, but its hard for him to get time off work for all the appts. There's not a whole lot that goes on at the appts so its no big deal for me not to have him there. They just check the heartbeat with a doppler, which we have at home. I definitely wouldn't complain if he could be there everytime though

With DS, DH came to my first u/s, anatomy scan and then my last 4 appts. So far, DH has been to all of my appts. I leave it up to him as to what he wants to do. When he didn't go to the appts with my DS, I would randomly record the heartbeat so he could hear it as well.

So far DH has come to all of them but we've also had ultrasounds at all of our appointments. He was going to be out of town for work when my anatomy scan was scheduled, he's not told someone else they have to go. He said family is more important than work, he's spent his last 10 years working for this company and getting it where it is he's now decided to change the priorities.

mine's been to all of my appts. i make a point to tell him he doesn't have to, but he chooses too. and with my working nights i schedule them for like 4ish so he rarely has to get out early.

You dr. doesn't care whose there as long as you are.

That said, my H does come with me. I have a long backstory and I'm scared to find something wrong again. However, after I get u/sounded next time and all is well H can stay home for awhile. The dr. is really pretty boring at this point. That sometimes I like to take H a long. We get lunch after and call it a date.

In my first pregnancy when I still thought everything was normal H only came to the u/s. I didn't really see the need for him to be there. Then we ran into issues and he came everytime after that.

So far he has been at all of them.The 1st and the last 2 had u/s. He will probably be going to the next two b/c there will be ultrasounds. He likes to be there, but if he couldn't make it, it would be fine. I have gotten used to him being with me though, so now I'm spoiled..lol

I told DH that the only appointments I expect/want him to be at are the U/S appointments. He's come to all of them though, which is nice. I'm glad he's involved and there to hear the dr's explanations when he answers my questions.

Last time DH went to the first heartbeat one and the big U/S. This time I had an early ultrasound and he came to that one and will be going to the big ultrasound. That's about it. The appointment are pretty routine, not worth finding a sitter or him missing work for.

It has been about 50/50 right now. He was able to make it to the 1st appointment and the 2 of our 3 u/s. For my check-ups, I have told him not to come, seems pointless for him to be there to wait for 30 minutes so I can pee in a cup and leave.

He will be at our 20 week appointment. After that, I do not know how things will work.

I've had seven appointments so far, and he's been to five of them. He's been to my four u/s appointments and one doctor appointment when we heard the h/b. He was able to go to them because of his school schedule, and he wanted to go to them. His school schedule has changed, so he'll probably only be able to go to our anatomy scan and that might be it for the rest of the pregnancy

nope - I've have 3 official doctor's appointments, the 1st Tri Screening/NT scan, and one quick appointment just to check on things because of an accident. - DH came to the very first appointment and the NT scan and will probably only come to the Anatomy Scan and that's it. My mom went with me to one of my other u/s and the rest I've been to (and plan on going to) alone - they're so quick now, it's no big deal. No point in both of us missing work.

yes he comes to all of them but I get an u/s at every appt. because of the twins...I think he enjoys seeing the babies too.

We both work in a seasonal business though - if this was the busy season I doubt he'd be able to come to them all. We're just sort of slow right now so he comes!

He hasn't been to any. He'll be at the anatomy scan and probably some down the road just to meet the Dr. before hand. It's really hard for him to get away from the office so it doesn't bother me at all.

My Dr.'s office is a little annoying. You wait for at least an hour for a 20 min. app. It's a small town and he's the best OBGYN.

When DH and I were still with our RE ( all of the first tri) we have appointments every two weeks. At each one of those they did an ultrasound so DH came with. Now that I have been just seeing my OB DH has not attended. All my OB does is weigh me, hear the HB and I pee in a cup. DH will be going to the anatomy scan in two weeks though.

My DH has been to all of them. He works night shift Mon-Friday so we just schedule thm 1st thing Monday morning then he goes home and takes a nap. Our weather hsa been horrible here so I like him to go just in case I hate driving in the snow, plus he really wants to be there.

DH has been to all of them except the one U/S I had (how is THAT for ironic? Ha!). He's off every other Friday, so we just schedule the appointments for those days. He likes going, especially since he can hear the HB. I sometimes am embarrassed that he's there, because no one else in my office brings their H with them to every appointment. But if I ever heard bad news, or they couldn't find the HB, I'd want him to be there.

I actually took off work for our anatomy scan in 2 weeks. We're going to make a day out of it and go out to a nice dinner afterward. I can't wait!

DH has been to all my appointments. I suffer from anxiety and when he is with me, my BP/HR is best. He just calms me down just by being there with me, and if I get anxious, he puts his hand on my leg, and I'm instantly calmer. The 1st trimester was scary with a SCH and a vanishing twin, so with anxiety, you all can see the real reason...I'm lucky my dr has 6pm appointments so neither of us have to take off work. For our anatomy scan in 2 weeks, we both will be going into work late, but we are lucky with our jobs that all we have to do is work a little late.

He's happened to go to all of them because it worked out time wise. But, he isn't going to the next appt. No big deal. All I go is pee in a cup, they listen to the hb, and then they take my blood pressure and ask me if I have questions. Not exactly something he needs to be there for.

My DH comes to all the appointments. It's our first child and he wants to be involved. He works in the mornings, so I just make the appointments around his schedule.

DH has a job too and only planned to go to the big appts, first, anatomy scan,,,etc, But he has been to all but one, his schedule rotates and as like would have it he was free...

Hasn't been to any yet this time, but he will go to the anatomy scan. With our first, it was slightly more new and exciting for us both so he went to my 12 week, 22 week (u/s), and a few toward the end.

So far, he has, and I think he's planning on coming to my check up on Wednesday. I don't think there's anything special about this appointment, except maybe listening for the heartbeat again, but he still wants to come. I leave it up to him, but he's been wanting to go. He's already talking about bringing a video camera to the next ultrasound at 20-ish weeks....

So far he's been to all of them, u/s and regular checkups. I told him he doesn't have to come for the checkups if he doesn't want to, but it's really important to him to be there so he always goes with me. Even though he doesn't have to come, it has been nice having the support when he comes along.

Yes, DH comes with me to every appointment and it's his choice. I told him he doesn't have to be there at the boring ones where we don't get an u/s, but he says he wants to.

H came w/ me to the 1st one & the 2nd one (he was on vaca for 2nd one) -- ultrasounds for both & meeting OB (first time for H) at 2nd appt...I have diabetes so my situation is a little different - I go often & have more ultrasounds than normal. H didn't for the last ultrasound this week but will come 2/14 for the anatomy scan /etc.

I def. have gone alone & will be going alone though to appts based on his work schedule.

So far DH has only been to my 8wk u/s appointment. He works 1st shift, so he has to get out of work to come with me. He'll be at the 18wk anatomy scan in February too.

Nope. He's gone to 1 appointment so far, when we heard the heartbeat for the first time. He will be going with me to the 20 weeks ultrasound, as well as the 20 week appointment to hear the results. I think that'll be it- unless something is wrong and I need him there. He works, and I don't find it necessary for him to go.

DH has been to all of my appointments. He really likes being there even though most of the time there isn't much going on. I schedule them for the afternoon when he is done with work and luckily the OB office is only like 10 minutes from his work.

He has been to every appt and ultrasound with me so far. If it's on a day he works, he'll take the day off. Our midwife is 40 minutes away and its winter here... I am not driving by myself so he takes me.

My H has come with to all the appointments except for the confirming b/w I had on base (before they referred me to the local clinic). He witnessed his first pap smear which still cracks me up.

DH hasn't been to a single appt and he won't. It doesn't work with his work schedule and my doctors office doesn't do evenings. He won't even be at the anatomy scan.

He actually hasn't even ever meet my regular ob - just my high risk one since he delivered our DS.
