  • I prefer the spelling Gwenyth. I'm big on no nicknames, I feel it defeats the purpose of the name all together, usually [but that's just me]. I think if you would call her Gwen anyway, why bother with the rest of it :) Gwenyth is a beautiful name though. I also know a girl named Gwendolyn. Her whole name is Gwendolyn Alexandria, what a mouthful, but very pretty!

  • Since I love the nickname of Gwen, Gwenyth makes a lot of sense to me. Gwyneth is also a fine alternative. I am big on having a full name for the nicknames.

  • I'm not sure why Gwen didn't show up on the poll.

Gwendolyn is out of the question since our LN is 3 syllables and it sounds awful together. We don't love nn either but I like both Gwenyth and just Gwen. If she would want to go by Gwen, I wouldn't want it to have a "y" in it. Not a fan. so hard!

  • I reluctantly picked Gwyneth, but I hate the name in general because of hte association with Paltrow. I would name her just Gwen.

FWIW, my baby's name is 3 syllables and her last name is also 3 syllables -- but I guess it depends on the name. Her name sounds great (her middle name is 3 syllables, too!)

  • gwyneth is the most common. it will probably be misspelled no matter what but i would go with that spelling. i'm sure it will always be used most anyway because of gwyneth paltrow.

i would not go with gwen. in my opinion, your daughter should have at least 2 options for her name so it's good to go with a longer version that she can shorten it if she chooses.

I like the "traditional" Welsh spelling, Gwyneth.

Love it, actually. It is on my short list.

    Agreed! Love this name!

  • I would go with Gwyneth. It's the traditional spelling and it's how Paltrow spells it so the chances of people misspelling her name are lessened slightly - KWIM?

    This exactly.

    It goes: Gwyneth, Gwendolen, Guinevere

All three can go by the nn Gwen, despite their full spellings. Hope that helps!

PS: I LOVE Gwyneth! Yes Great choice.
