My Mom is A-mazing

She's really been the  best support this whole pregnancy, and it's so cool to see her so excited to be a Grandma (or Yaya, since she's Greek and we've decided that's going to be her name).

Today,  I had just finished washing and organizing baby's clothes, and realized that somehow I ended up with almost entirely 3-6 month clothes, and have very few newborn outfits. I mentioned this in passing to my mom, saying I'd probably pick some stuff up from Walmart, and she bursts out with "Oh, I can't wait... open this!" and hands me this HUGE box from Kohls:
She'd bought me pretty much all the newborn clothes I could ever need or want, not to mention all these adorable outfits all the way up to 18 months. I pretty much cried, it was so sweet.
I have always admired my mom, but this pregnancy has shown me how great she is in a completely new light. She is one of the most generous, loving people I have ever known.

Anyone else experiencing a new-found appreciation for mom?

Re: My Mom is A-mazing

  • My Mother has been amazing too.  I have been sick all week and she came up to help wash the clothes and organize things and help with my son.  Then tonight she is taking DS for the night so DH and I can do some things without DS underfoot.

  • I would definitely have to say yes to this...your mom is very sweet : ) I am lucky that I too have a great mom. She has been nothing but supportive this entire time and maybe even over-the-top in the things she's bought. All in all, she has bought all of our baby furniture and even things like our crib mattress and bedding, as well as random things here and there, outfits, a boppy, and she has literally bought her own items for HER house as well to be prepared. She's coming to stay with me and DH for a week after LO is born as well to help cook and clean for us. She's great!!!

  • Nope, my mom flaked on buying airline tickets to come out and see me for the birth/stay with my kids so we could be in the hospital. But it's nice to hear people who have involved, non-self-absorbed mothers!

  • I can't say I have a new-found appreciation for my mom as I've been the biggest momma's girl my entire life. We live in the same town and I see her often but I still manage to call her EVERY MORNING on my way to work just to chat. She is the best!

I do appreciate her for opening her home to me and DH after LO is born. She plans on taking care of me and LO and making sure I'm able to catch up on sleep after LO is born. She's already talking about how nice it will be for me to wake up to a hot breakfast every morning while I relax on the couch with LO. DH appreciates it because he knows he will come home to a happy wife, happy baby, and a hot dinner that HE doens't have to cook. We plan to stay for a week and after we go back home she will most likely be at my house everyday to help with chores and LO. I can't thank her enough for all of her support. I look forward to learning everything I can from her the first week LO is here Big Smile

  • Yes! My mom has been simply amazing my entire pregnancy! Since the moment I told her I was prego.. she has been the most excited person in the entire world! She has always been the best mom ever, but she has just been there for me in every way shape and form! My husband and I are so lucky!

When I was dealing with mmy PUPPPs real bad last week, she came to my house with lunch.. and then proceeded to help with ALL of our laundry. Helped put all of the babys stuff away... and just was awesome at keeping my mind off of how miserable I was! Then, she and my dad came and picked up hubby and I for a suprise dinner out. Love them =)

Im freaking out right now though, because my mom has a horrible cold.. and I will just die if my mom is too sick to be in the labor room and/or not be able to hold my little boy because of it. Im praying she gets well soon!
