I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow and had an app yesterday. I asked my doctor to describe what a contraction would like b/c I have no idea. I keep hearing everyone use the term tightening to describe them, and I had one day of stomach tightening/slash menstrual cramps off & on a couple weeks ago. Ten recently (the last couple days) I've started getting these sharp/radiating pains from my stomach to vag. They only last like a second or 2 so i don't think they're contractions but what the hevk are they? Is she just moving down lower? My doc said that not everyone gets "tightening" per say.
Just curious as to what these pains might be. They come fairly regularly.
Thanks Ladies!
Re: what does everyone's contractions, bh, etc feel like?!

For me they feel like the are building up slowly, then it holds really tight for awhile, and slowy lets go (and here one comes now, lol). I equate it to slowly clenching your fist, holding tight, and then slowly letting go. My uterus does get hard as well during this but it only is the bottom portion of it, not the whole thing.
Sometimes they are stronger and other times they are not as strong and I only know they are a contraction because my heart goes haywire from them. I have menstrual type cramps as well on top of it every now and then and those are apparently contractions as well? No clue on that one...
Not sure about your sharp radiating pain that only lasts a few seconds though, that sounds like it would be caused by a nerve or something or RLP.
This is what mine felt like. When they got really strong, I couldn't talk through them because they hurt like a mofo. They were like the most intense AF cramps.
I feel them a lot in my back and some in my ribs. Either a dull almost rolling paing in my back or if I do feel them in my stomach, it feels like he has balled himself up in there and is pushing all in one spot, usually high, just below my rib cage. HTH It is very hard to explain.
btw this is my first and would not know that these were contractions had I not had to be on the monitor and gotten to see when I was having them. So I totally understand.
