So after 5 days of treating B for a fever of "unknown origin" and her fever didn't go away, we determined today that she has ear infections. One ear is bad the other is cloudy. Its a relief at least knowing what we're treating now.
I had to go back to work today so DH stayed home with B and took her to the Dr. But being the man that he is, asked ZERO questions. LOL And to try and get a call back from the Dr at this point in the day is really pointless.
Here are my questions:
TIA!!
Re: Where are my ear infections experts??
I am hardly an expert, but we just finished treating M's second ear infection, so I can try to answer some of your qs from my experience!
-Our pedi said the fever should go away on about the second day of antibiotics.
-M seemed MUCH happier about a day into the antibiotics
-We didn't notice much as far as side effects, but per the pedi we gave her probiotics 2x a day (florastor kids, mixed into yogurt)
-Our pedi said to continue with the Motrin as needed
Hope that helps some!
(My H is the same way--asks no questions and forgets everything the doctor says by the time he gets home! LOL!)
augmentin = major antibiotic poops! Ellie was having multiple explosive poops the first few days on augmentin! Not so much fun. Fever - ask your pedi for the true, weight based dose of motrin. I know I have an in since I am friends with most of the pedi's in the practice, but this made a huge difference. And i know the dose they told me was OK, was still not what they'd give in the hospital or office, so I felt comfortable giving it. Ellie hated the premixed pedialyte but loved the stuff in the packet and the fruit popsicles.
Hang in there! Call if you need some treats, ginger ale or popsicles.
