Babies: 6 - 9 Months

DD was a bottomless pit today!!!

She took a 6 ounce bottle from my mom this morning... her usual is 3-4 ounces, but I always prepare a bigger bottle in case she's hungry (I made a 7 ounce bottle today and there was barely an ounce left!). Β She also nursed for about 20 minutes, which is twice as long as normal. Β She then took a 2.5 hour nap.

For dinner, she ate a pickle, a waffle, a mum mum with cheese, about 20 puffs, and 3 slices of avocado.Β

Here's an AW pic of her enjoying a pickle!

  • Okay, seriously.Β  How in the heck do you get DD to give you such awesome expressions?!?!Β  She's sooooo stinkin' cute!!!

It always amazes me how much food these babies can put away...Β  My itty bitty peanut (just over 12# at 7 months) nurses 5 times a day (I'm guessing about 4-5 oz each session since that what she'll take when we give a bottle instead) and eats a total of 8-10 Tbl of cereal and about 16 oz of baby food each day.Β  I'm trying to get her on some "real" food, but she still has a bad gag reflex and hasn't figured out how to chew and swallow if it's not at least semi-pureed.Β  (I'm thinking about trying one of the mesh feeders to see if that'll help her figure out the chewing thing...)

Haha... thanks! Β I take a zillion pictures a day, and luck out with a handful of good expressions. Β It's a good thing I don't have a film camera, otherwise I'd be broke!!!

Abby never really had a bad gag reflex - just lots of practice eating solids really helped her get the hang of it. Β Most babies will gag - as long as they don't choke, they'll be fine. Β They'll eventually get the hang of it, but only if you keep practicing!!!Β

  • I ate pickles pretty much every day when I was pregnant. Β My #1 craving was a hot dog bun full of relish (no hot dog... just relish).
