My school is closing

We just found out today. Due to low numbers and finances they are closing our doors in June.

I am heartbroken.

I am sorry! That has to suck! I am always in fear of something like this happen but it is more of being shut down for missing AYP which thankfully we have yet to do....this year I am not as confident though because our new teachers (80% of our staff) really are awful. I hope you find a school that fits you!

I'm so sorry. This is happening in my area too. Does your district have a plan in place for displaced teachers? I got my certification 4 years ago this coming June, and I have yet to find a job. It sucks big time, and makes it even harder when schools are closing.

Oh no! How long have you worked there? I've transferred schools three times and am in love with the one I'm at now. I'd be so sad if our administration left!

I teach at a private christian school, I am at the smaller satelitte campus in the SW metro that feeds into the main campus in Mpls.

Bascially our numbers are low and in order to save the whole program, they are cutting our school and going with one elementary school instead of two.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I really hope you can find something just as good for next year. Good luck and keep your head up--maybe something will change before then and they won't have to close it.

That stinks. I hope that you are able to find some another job for the next school year. It's so sad because I love small private schools (went to them my whole life), but they are so expensive now and I'm sure most aren't doing well in this economy. It's a shame

If it makes you feel ANY better... I got my transfer letter in the mail today. Meaning... I am not secured my job for next year, also due to low numbers. =/

Oh no that sucks. Why isn't more money spent on schools and education? I just don't understand that. It's the same up here in Canada. You have 30+ kids per 1 teacher. It's unfortunate.

I'm so sorry to hear that!! It's just awful what's happening all over this country with our school systems (private and public). I'm not sure what jobs are like out your way, but I hope you can find a position quickly!
