I am scheduled to get induced Next Friday, 2/4. I have
GD and my LO is measuring in the 81st percentile. At my 37 week appt,
she said we would induce at 39 weeks. Today, at my 38 week appt I was
50% and 1 cm, -1 station (same as 37 week appt, except I was -2
station) Today, she gave me the option to go right to 40 weeks, but
this past week I have had it in my mind that I was getting induced at
39, so I just stuck with that. I definitely want to go next weekend,
but I am so nervous. I think it might have just hit me today, that he
is almost here, that this is my last weekend w/o a baby, my last week
working etc. Oh the hormones

But back to my question, please share
your induction experience, dilation, etc. I have no problem with TMI

Oh, and she is going to strip my membranes on Tuesday and is planning
to start with Cervadil Thursday night. Thanks mamas!
Re: Those with induction experiences (repost for 3rd tri)
I was induced with my first. I was 2cm when I got to the hospital but it took me 12 hours to get to 3 cm and that was with cervadil and pitocin. I was not really ready to have the baby but had to deliver due to high blood pressure, so I'm guessing that is why it took so long to get to 3cm. 3cm to 10 cm took another 12 hours. Doctor didn't break my bag of water until 6cm which is probably another reason it took so long. Once my bag was broken I delivered in 4 hours.
I am being induced this time around as well because of high blood pressure, on the 2nd. But this past Wednesday I was already at 3cm and 90% effaced. Doctor said I might not make it to my induction day but if I do, I shouldn't be in labor all that long.
Good luck! I hope all goes smoothly for you!

I was induced at 41w1d with my daughter. I got to the hospital at 7 and the MW broke my water but that didn't start things.
They started me on Pitocin around 11 and I had my baby just before 5. The contractions at the end were incredibly intense, one on top of each other. I really don't want to be induced again...I guess I just want the natural course of things. If you can wait until 40 weeks to see if you go on your own, I would advise it!
Mine was a failed induction, but here are the basics.
Started at 2cm dilated, I don't remember how effaced or the station. Pitocin started at 5:30am. OB broke my water around 7am. 12 hours later I was only 4cm dilated but the pit contractions were killing me, so I got an epidural. Was great for a couple hours, then it didn't work - at all. Threw up all night. Next day, around 6 am the nurse said I was fully dilated and it was time to push. Still no pain relief, so I was exhausted and in so much pain. Pushed for 3 hours. OB comes in, checks me to see what's going on, says stop pushing NOW, you aren't fully dilated (she thinks I was at a 5, maybe 7, when I was pushing). All that pushing had caused my cervix to swell shut and DS's heart rate wasn't doing well, so after 30 hours, I was rushed off for an emergency c/s.
While my experience wasn't great, not a single OB checked on me during the night. Just my nurse who couldn't ever tell how far I was dilated (obviously). I was kinda forgotten about. My nurse only checked on me twice, didn't even answer my nurse call button thing. Needless to say, I'm now with a new OB and a different hospital. So don't let my bad experience scare you - I'm sure this is rare.

Mine was a failed induction, but we believe it failed because we decided to try it 3 weeks early due to pre-e. It was that or go straight for a c/s.
Monday night, they started cervadil around 8pm and put me on the external monitors, IV, BP cuff, and pulse ox. thingy. I was 1 cm dilated on my own and something like 50% effaced and baby had dropped some over the weekend, but was still high. I had to call a nurse anytime I wanted to switch positions or go to the bathroom because they were very serious about monitoring the baby the whole time. I had a few contractions every hour. Because Lena was an acrobat, I didn't get any sleep because we kept losing her on the monitors. Around 6am Tuesday morning, they started pitocin and I started contracting more regularly, but things didn't get crazy until they broke my water at 8am and put in the internal monitors. I had contrax on top of eachother until a nurse turned down my pitocin. I made it about 6 hours having contrax 3 minutes apart before I just broke down in tears with each one and finally asked for an epi. I regret not asking for one sooner. Once the epi was in (it took 3 tries..ugh...) I was so relaxed that I was able to take a nap (after they put a catheter in). I still felt some pressure, but no pain. Another 6 hours later and I had stalled out at 4-5cm and no matter how much they increased my pitocin, I wasn't progressing and my BP wasn't responding well to the increased pit. and I had Lena at 6:26pm via c/s.
All in all, I'm disappointed that I had the c/s, but grateful that I got to experience labor. I had originally wanted a med free vaginal birth and ended up with nothing like what I had wanted in the beginning. I'm okay with my birth experience and am so in love with my daughter, none of it really matters. GL!
I was sent home from my induction but I will share my story because I guess it could happen to anyone!
(This is C&P from my blog)
I went in Tuesday night as planned and had cervidil inserted into my closed cervix. (PAINFUL!) After a few hours I was still not sleeping and having contractions every 1-2 minutes and even though they were not intense, I could not sleep. At 4AM I was checked again and was 1cm and 70% effaced. The nurse put a little something in my IV to help me "relax" and I fell asleep for a few hours. Around 8AM my doctor came in and checked me again, my cervix had made no progress. Because of all the contractions I was having, she did not want to give me another cervidil. She also did not need to give me pitocin because I was obviously already having contractions. So we were sort of stuck, waiting for my cervix to dilate. So we went walking around the delivery floor some and I bounced around on an exercise ball. I was checked about two more times before 1:00PM and still there was no progress. My doctor wanted me to be 3-4cm dilated before she could break my water. She said I would need an epidural for her to break my water before 3cm and once that was inserted I would be "committed" to staying in L&D for the labor, which she thought would be at least two days. Her strong suggestion was that I go home and come back when my contractions are strong enough that I need to breathe through them or when my water breaks.
She saw no reason for a c-section because the babies are doing great and would be fine to stay in for a little while longer. It is pretty disappointing but H and I know it is for the best. There is no reason for me to have surgery or be miserable in the hospital when our babies are healthy and still enjoying their current home.
It just SUCKS! I thought a scheduled induction was our guarantee, but I guess even a scheduled induction can have to be re-scheduled. So now I am trying to go into labor on my own and I see the doctor Monday to check my cervix and reschedule round #2, if needed. I know a c-section is a possibility, which is OK with me, but it might be worth waiting it out to avoid it.
