We all know those women who you look at and KNOW that's not their natural shade or color (as in black eyebrows and lashes but PLATINUM hair or something like that)....So I'm cool with indivduality but I wonder...."Am I too old for this?" when I look at trends (clothes, jewelry, cut of clothing, hair styles, hair colors)...I get that some people have a big negative association with gray hair and so they dye for that purpose but I'm not really talking about that - I'm more talking about highlighting, low lighting, changing your natural color in total, etc.
So, when is too old for dying your hair?
What is "too extreme"?
When is it appropriate to "tone it down"?
Thoughts?
Re: dying hair: how extreme, how old, and when do you "take it down a notch"?
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I'm laughing AND stalking.
I STARTED highlighting my hair 2 years ago to cover greys. (grey not as noticeable with the blonder streaks in it too)
I'm still naturally red but the color is getting dull and needs some help now.
No clue what the answer is.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
my grandma dyed her hair ronald mcdonald red until right before she died this year...she was in her 90's. I think it was awesome
I'd love to be a crazy old lady and literally have blue hair...or pink...or anything fun!! my mom is going to be 69 this year and she dyes her hair a very natural chestnut brown..looks great! she doesn't look her age at all!!! now my aunt, who went white at 25, looks way older than her age..and always has. mainly because she styles her white hair in a very old lady way...

I mostly agree with this. I think it's more about your hair being suitable for your lifestyle than age. As long as you have the right job, etc., whatever makes you happy!
I never really went back to platinum but while sitting here 8000 months pregnant, I'd love to lighten the HECK out of my hair - not platinum but lots of highlights. I worry I'll look ridiculous. I know its hair and you can change it but....
Girl.... DO IT!!!
Seriously.
If it will make you feel good - DO IT.
You can always change it later but you're about to enter the realm of newborn-ness.
No sleep.
A toddler who doesn't get that you've had no sleep.
Life will be tough enough.
If you think this will make you feel good - DO IT.
For a while ain't nothing gonna be about how you feel about ANYTHING so - DO IT!!!!
Sometimes the little things can make all the difference in filling up Mamma's cup so she has enough to fill up the cups of 2 little ones.
DO IT!!!

Howley...you are sooo right on with this! I got my hair done right after having both kids...I feel like if my hair looks good, then I look good.
Regarding the main question of this post...I think hair is a great way to express yourself...There are tonnes of people that have funky crazy hair that suits them to a T. Then there are others who have very conservative hair and that's their thing. I had an art prof. who had one blue streak in her naturally black hair (she was about 45)...and it was literally gorgeous.
