Hi ladies,
I am throwing a baby shower for my sister. She has also dealt with IF and has had a rotten time of it. She was pregnant with twins back back in 2009 and lost one twin in utero very late in the pregnancy and then the other twin was born at 30 weeks and died after one day. She's also had another m/c and a CP. So, I really want this baby shower to be super-special and thoughtful.
So what are some of the favorite things that people did at your shower that were just super memorable and meaningful?
So far, I'm planning a baby tip tree. I made little paper 'ornaments' for everyone to write their favorite parenting advice. That's all I have so far.
Thanks!
Re: Cool Baby Shower Ideas?
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Just go overboard
Do you have a theme? I would like to help, poor thing deserves an over the top shower. I'll even ship you some cookies, I am not the world's greatest cookie maker, but I am decent. Here are the cookies from the girls party I made.
I can also hook you up with my paper lady, she was amazing and did all kinds of cool things for me.

Babbsy,
Oh my goodness, aren't you so sweet?!!
I don't really have a theme.
The invitations have little birdies on them and I was going to use pussywillows in a container for the 'tree'. https://www.etsy.com/transaction/42105256
I guess the theme is a springy theme?!. The shower is going to be on March 6th, which is right when we all want spring to get here.
I was thinking of making these cupcakes, because I thought they were something cute that I could handle. https://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/your-best-baby-shower-cupcakes#slide_7 However, these don't really fit into my new Spring theme!
Your birthday party cookies and decorations are AWESOME. I did a bumblebee theme for Lucas's 1 year birthday because he's my little Luvabee
I sent you a PM. Thanks!
we're FB friends, right?
FB me the invites and let me see what I can come up with! I can tell you how to do the pretzels and marshmallows if you want too, they were super duper easy.
If you decide on tags for the cookies, Hezz can send them to me and I will bag and put them on the cookies.
Actually, let me PM you my email address.

The thing that my BFF liked the most (and still talks about) was the time capsules we made for the babies (twins) at her shower.
I went to the Container Store and got bottles that were cork-able.
I got acid free scrap book paper that matched her theme (which was all custom made to match her nursery which she was IN LOVE with).
I wrote a poem asking people to write advice to each child to be opened on their 16th birthday. I encouraged them to think about what it was like to be a girl at 16 and what advice they would give to a boy at 16.
Some of them were SO thoughtful (like to believe in yourself, find the strength to stand against negative peers, etc)
Some were HILARIOUS. (mainly dating advice - specifically telling the boy how to get any girl he wants and then how to treat them well enough to keep them)
Some were about the parents - how to roll your eyes without being noticed while you nod and say "Yes, Mom"
The grandma's both wrote a small book (I had larger sheets for them) and the parents wrote letters to them after the shower.
I added in some information about the year they were born (president, fashion, music, cars, price of a gallon of gas, things a teen might find interested in at 16).
We sealed them up and they went into the kids' closets.
Every birthday my BFF talks about how completely excited she is for them to smash open their time capsules on their 16th birthday.
The she tears up and tells me it's the coolest thing ever that her friends loved her kids that much before they were even born.
It was a BIG hit.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
Wow, that sounds awesome! Thanks for the idea
About how large were the bottles??
I'm not very bump-saavy. How will I know if I have a PM?
I sent you a message via FB. Send me your email back using FB.
I would love the recipe for the pretzels and the marshmallow. They are really cute, and quite tasty I'm sure.
I can't FB from work, so I will check when I get home:)
But if you scroll on the left hand side, scroll down until it has a section called "My boards" and click on "check private messages"

You could definitely do it for the girls' second birthday party!
They were literally wine bottles but they had a metal thingy that snapped the cork down inside and sealed it. (not describing well... I'll go look for a pic)
You can make a simple "label" for them using a large mailing label and your computer. I had all the graphics from the lady I hired to do the custom work for the shower so it was easy to make it all matchy-matchy.
We sealed them with melted wax so they couldn't peek before their 16th birthday.

I'm stealing this for my Nephew's wife's shower this summer, I love it!
