It usually takes me 35 minutes to get home from work on a bus. Wednesday it took me 7 hours due to a snowstorm. I left work on the first bus before it was even snowing. The snow hit so fast and so strongly, we were in total gridlock. We literally didn't move an inch for over an hour at one point. I ended up getting off the bus about 2 miles from my house and walking. It was nearly 11 p.m. when I got home to a house with no power.
Meanwhile, DH spent the same seven hours driving home from work. DS was at daycare because his school had been cancelled for the day. I was frantic that we couldn't get to him. The daycare director and 2 employees stayed at the center until the last kid was picked up at midnight. They made dinner for the kids, and played "flashlight games" with them when the power went out. DS was sleeping soundly when DH finally got to him. He was at daycare for 14 hours, and thought the whole thing was a big adventure.
It's supposed to snow here again next week. I'm thinking I just may not leave the house until spring.

This. I would have been a stressed out basket case.

This. My DD would probably be having fun, but I would be a wreck

In the Baltimore/Washington area, I've heard about 10 hour commutes that night. I didn't even think about people's kids at daycare. How horrible. I'm glad you're home!
