Success after IF

Um I am starting to get anxious about having a newborn again

Anyone else?   After I just posted my last post I thought "Holy crap!  in 2 months I'll have a baby again.   That's 8 more weeks!   I feel so unprepared and I'm sure panic will set in at some point by end of Feb, beginning of March.

It's been 2 yrs, and I feel like I've forgotten everything from when N was a newborn.  Like how much he ate (how many oz), and stuff like that.

So moms that already have #2 or even #3, does it all come back to you?

And those that are about to have their 2nd (like LauraandDan, FutureMrs Eanes and any other ones due in the next couple of months) are you nervous too?

Yup!  It does all come back.

    And then some.

I was a MUCH more laid back Mom the 2nd time around.  Things like soothing were instinct instead of experiment.

With #1 it could take me a long time to figure out how to soothe him.  With #2 I could whip thru my catalog of several possibilities in the blink of an eye.

As for remembering how much he ate at what age?  It doesn't matter because they're rarely the exact same baby all over again.  Things that worked with #1 were useless with #2.

You'll figure it all out.  The big difference is that you'll figure it all out FASTER this time.

And FWIW I was VERY nervous.

    Very.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • you did a great job the first time, imagine how much less stressful (in someways) it will be this time!!  You've got this!!  you are going to do GREAT!
  • I felt like I was alot more laid back with Penny than I was with Reed.  I got pregnant again so fast that I felt like I had to have him sleeping well and eating well before she arrived.  Plus he wasn't talking and I stressed out about that big time.

Penny has been advanced from day 1 (she rolled over!) but she is also much more of a handful.  She is a drama queen and very daring.

Reed and Penny's babyhoods just blended 2years into what seemed like one!

You will do awesome!  So excited!!!

I wonder if this is typical of 2nd children close in age?

Penny sounds JUST like Jace.  (yes... I did just call my BOY a drama queen)

  • I was getting really nervous for a little while but now I just want her out.  I think that is natures way of helping us make it through the last few weeks!

You did fine last time and you will know so much more this time than you did then so you'll do great!

  • I was scared out of my mind for months after I found out I was pregnant again. Still am, to a certain extent, but now I'm also super-excited to meet her and that's outweighing the anxiety.

I can relate, but I know we'll all do just fine!

  • I felt exactly the same way (x2!), but I swear it all comes right back.  It's much easier than #1.  You'll do great!

  • I am very nervous too.  Like today I don't feel good so we spent the day inside.  I spent all day with DS on my lap reading books.  It was such a good day and I all my time was completely devoted to him, I feel really guilty and nervous that I won't be able to do that after little Aaron makes his appearance.  But at the same time I am really excited.  I hope it comes back to me quickly, it seems like forever ago that I had to worry about head control and all that jazz.
