I can't believe it's been 25 years. Where were you (if you were even old enough to remember)?
I think it's one of my earliest "I remember exactly where I was at that moment" events. I was in third grade and our teacher had wheeled in the TV cart so we could watch the lift off live since it was such a huge deal that Christa McAuliffe was going up.
I still get numb when I see the replays of the explosion.

ditto. so so sad. I also remember the Punky Brewster episode about it very vividly. Punky was my girl!
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I remember that Punky episode too. I loved that show and that episode was especially well done.
We had the day off from school because it was Martin Luther King Jr day, and we were about the only place in the country that had that day off because it wasn't a holiday at the time, but we lived in DC.
My Mom and I were watching at home in the kitchen and were so shocked.
Wow. Music class here.
25 years is crazy -- thanks for mentioning it as it would have never crossed my mind.

I was in 10th grade history class. The teacher for that class joked around a lot, which I usually liked. I remember that he was called out of the room, and when he returned, he had a shocked expression on his face, and he said, "I hope none of you knew anyone on the space shuttle, because it just exploded." Then we watched it on TV for the rest of the day. I really liked this teacher, but I always thought the way he told us was a little inappropriate.
That was such a tragic event, and it really affected my hometown, which is heavily involved in the space industry. I also remember feeling bad for the families of the astronauts, as I felt that Christa Macauliffe received so much more attention than tha astronauts did.
Don't feel old. I was in a high school too. I was a Freshman then, and we saw it in 6th period English class. The Art teacher in our school had applied to be the teacher in Space and may have even made it to the finals. Ironically enough when the Space Shuttle launched again a few years later, I was back in 6th period English class.
