After EBF for the last 2.5 weeks, we decided to try introducing LO to the bottle last night. We started off the a NUK bottle and she took it right away, but after sucking on it for 15+ mins, hardly any milk was actually gone from it. Then I tried a Luvs bottle, with a completely different nipple. She took that right away also and drank an ounce. I'd rather not keep her on the Luvs bottle because it is SO different from the breast - I don't want to encourage a bad latch. Any advice on how to get her to actually *eat* from the NUK bottle?
(It was formula, BTW. Once my pump comes in the mail I will feed either BM or a 50/50 mix)
Re: Introducing the bottle ?
You might check the holes in the nipples, but sometimes they just perfer the other shape. My two boys both took different pacifiers and bottles (though we tried to start them on the same type) because they just perfered the different shapes of the nipples.
