Parenting after 35

F/U to food strike

Thank you ladies for all the suggestions.  I need to start branching out to different food.  It is just so easy to crack open a jar of baby food when I get home from work and make a bottle.  My mom was giving me a hard time last night because I have not started Michael trying a sippy cup yet.  (This was after she went out and bought him 8 12 month shirts and two pairs of jammies because I have 30+ pairs of pants given to me and almost no shirts and mailed them to me so I kinda had to listen. Embarrassed)  If my 4pm appointment does not show, I am going to stop and get some different kinds of berries to try with my little man tonight.

  • Ya know, Michael's "only" about nine months old.   Charlie really didn't get into eating until he was older than that.   Heck, he's still not crazy about it and barely gets the sippy cup idea. Some babies just aren't aggressive eaters, so I really wouldn't sweat it right now.   If he's happy and his weight is proportionate, there's no need to push him.

  • I know.  It's just that Tim and I have a very broad palette and we want to try to influence Michael so that he likes many different things as well.

go for it- sounds like a good plan. for me, feeding sabrina was never enjoyable. :( i hate to say that but i just didn't like it- i hated the mess and it seemed like it was always a fight. then at 9 months she completely and absolutely refused puree baby food. so she had to really learn how to eat different textures if she wanted to eat... and now the girl eats EVERYTHING. i still have to make sure it's all cut up small since she only has two teeth (almost four), but as long as i do that and it's not rock hard, she'll eat it.

  • Sarah didn't stop eating baby food until she was 15 months old. At that time, she completely refused to be fed so she had to eat things she could eat herself with her hands, a spoon or fork. She is finally getting a little more accepting of different foods but it's very hard. We are trying to influence her to like many different things too but sometimes it just doesn't work like that.
