We had our "New" to us van fixed this week as it broke down IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD with Nolan and I. 200.00 later I was taking the kiddos to bounce class this AM, and guess what.... putt putt put....t.....t.... the car does the SAME thing. The dealer that fixed it said it was because we did not also get their suggested "service" of spark plugs done on it (which will not cause it to die, not start, but not die)
We suptter in to a new repair shop, after starting and crapping out in the road 6 times with 3u3 in the car, and the owner looks at the receipt and says that they fixed the wrong thing.
Also, receipt says miles in and miles out are the same, indicating the original shop did not drive the car at all to test it out.
Re: NSAIF WWYD?
I would contact the dealer, ask to speak to the manager, and I would calmly and politely tell them what you wrote above and ask them how they plan to make this situation right. I would suggest to them that they should refund the $200 or a large part of it, or give you $200 credit to the dealer.
I would be sure to tell them that you are driving around three children under two, and their carelessness could potentially affect your family's safety.
Is the car still under warranty? Did you buy in the last 30 days?
If yes to either of those things, bring it back and demand a loaner car (make it clear you are not paying for it and you need van or large SUV) and tell them you do not want that van back until it is fixed.
WHen I bought my van 2 years ago, I had some issues. The damn thing kept stalling out on me. It was there 2 times and each time they said either nothing was wrong or it was fixed. The 3rd time I was stranded at BRU with my 5 month old twins (i was also pregnant) and they sent a tow truck but they would not transport us to the dealership because of the kids. I flipped, I mean really lost it! I called the dealership and screamed at the service manager. I told him to get his a$$ down to BRU pick me and my kids up NOW! THey came down there and got me. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with the van. I told them give me a new van or I am getting a lawyer. Wouldn't you know, they figured out the TRANS was bad! When they claimed they fixed the two other times, they never test drove it. The third time they did. Make it clear you know how many miles are on it.
This.
THanks ladies. We bought it used 60 miles away at a small dealer with no warranty. I am not pursuing the avenue. We took it to a chrysler dealer to have it fixed this week (not where we got it) because it was close to where it broke down, and we thought they would stand behind their repair.
Just so frustrated. I am even willing to pay for the part that they replaced and not the labor. I feel like I am getting taken advantage of.
