M will not eat breakfast. She wakes up, and must sit on the couch with a show and a cup of milk. After that, she may eat a few grapes, but it takes her about an hour and a half to eat. She's a great eater, and not picky at all, but she just will not eat breakfast. When my other 2 wake up, you'd think they hadn't eaten in a month. Their breakfast better be waiting when they wake up or they'll die.
Re: Anyone have a kid who refuses breakfast?
First - Love your amended siggy.
Nat could really care less if she had breakfast or not. She'll eat about 1/2 the time, and almost always cold cereal or yogurt, and not until about 9 a.m.
My middle DD can be like that some mornings. She's my light eater anyways, and sometimes she just DOES NOT want anything.
I'm not a big fan of pushing food...but my issue with this is that my DD seems to have some blood sugar issues and when she hasn't eaten and she's a MONSTER. LIke irrational and out of control. So sometimes I think she's refusing the breakfast because she's just out of control and not thinking clear, if you know what I mean?? Like she is refusing, I think she's hungry because she's just insane, and well, its breakfast time, she SHOULD be hungry. I try to get her a drink of juice when she's like this and wait 10 minutes or so and she comes around most of the time...or I can at least get her to eat a bit of yogurt.
Breakfast is a struggle for me. I try not to make meal times struggles but 2 of the 3 would rather not eat. And I cannot stand the thought of sending them off for the day without breakfast.
Waking them up a bit earlier seems to help (so they're awake for longer before they have to eat). And I find calorie dense foods that are easy to eat quickly -- pb toast, turkey sausage links, hard boiled eggs.
I hate breakfast, you could not pay me to eat it.
DD is the same way her breakfast everyday is a glass of OJ, like you I don't care as she is fine in the weight and height department and eats all her other meals.
