DD seemed to have complete control over herself at 6 months, so that's when she started with a blanket and stuffed animal. We didn't use one with holes.

Around 10mo. Nope, no holes, just a fleece receiving blanket doubled up. I usually put the animals at the bottom and she plays with them when she wakes.

We gave them the FP Seahorses for naps and overnight at Christmas, so just shy of 10 months. We also give them their My Pal Scout/Violet for their naps now as part of our routine. We haven't put a blanket in with them yet even though they love when we have blankets on the floor while they play. My husband is OCD about checking everything with the pedi, so I imagine he'll ask at their year checkup.
I put him down with a blanket sometimes now if his room is chilly. sometimes its a crocheted one, sometimes a regular light fleece one. depends on what is clean. It drives DH apeshit though...so...I just try to remember to turn up his radiator sooner No stuffed animals yet...he doesn't seem attached to anything yet.
I think Stella was around 8 or 9 months when we started with a blanket. It's grown to a couple of blankets, stuffed animals, soft dolls and random binkies.
