TTC After a Loss

Dang you UPS, FEDEX and the MAILMAN!!!

I am sure most of you can relate, but I would please take some advice on how to deal with this.

So some of the items that I had ordered a few eeks ago have now started to trickle in. I fear the mail now and whatever else gets left on my doorstep. Today it was bottles. Really??? Thank you so much for being delivered late and now killing me slowly as I open them to put them in my stash closet. As I sat there and investigated them I felt almost guilty for it. Like one of those people who had made a pg purchase without even being pg....but I was when I bought them so I don't get my feelings. Argh!!!

I get home before my DH so he can't help me......does this get easier over time and I just turn into a zombie when I relocate the items????

Re: Dang you UPS, FEDEX and the MAILMAN!!!

  • Oooh I'm sorry hun.. I (foolishly) had bought some maternity clothes (everything for summer was on sale!) and luckily my dear MIL came up to spend the day with me this weekend and went to the mall to help me return them. One store asked "And why are you retuning these items?" DUH can't you see they're mat clothes! I just welled up and had to say "I don't want them anymore" and my sweet MIL just grabbed my hand.

If I were you, I'd leave the boxes unopened until DH gets home. And if you have to, just leave them unopened and put them away until you're ready to open them. Or have him open them with you. Or make him do it by himself lol..

Biggest hugs dear and I hope you can figure out whats least painful for you! <3

  • I am so sorry.  That is so terrible.  I totally agree with the PP.  Just throw the unopened boxes aside and either wait for your DH or untill you are ready for the stuff to come out.

I set aside a "don't open" plastic container of the stuff that I bought.  I have it in the garage out of sight.  Whatever comes in or I find around the house just goes in the box.  I think keeping it inside something else keeps the stress down for me when I do have to go looking for things in the garage.

    ~big hugs~

  • aww, (((hugs)))

it can be so hard to deal with some things, but *that* just sucks!  It almost unavoidable.  Stay strong, and hopefully soon you can pull them all out for real!

  • ((hugs)) I'm so sorry. I thankfully didn't buy anything that had to be shipped but I almost bought some cloth diapers a few hours before I started to miscarry. Thankfully I get distracted easily. I  like OP suggesstion of letting DH open the boxes.

  • So sorry to hear you had a shock at the mailbox. It stinks that just as you start to feel a bit at ease something like this sneaks up on you. I hope you get to use those bottles very soon! HUGS

  • *huge hugs*  I hate all three quite thoroughly.  And, stupid mailman is apparently incapable of closing the damn box.  I was not amused when we had a snowstorm a bit ago and my mailbox was filled with mail AND snow.

  • Aww! Im sorry...This stuff is the worst! I bought some mat clothes only because GAP was having a huge sale.. I asked DH what I should do with them and he wanted me to keep them and said I will need them someday and that made me feel so good to hear him say that.

As for the Mags, and coupons, and offers in the mail they for some reason just make me really mad and I don't know how to stop them from coming.. I don't think I have tried hard enough to figure out how to get them to stop :(

I think just not opening them and putting them away for when you will need them is the best way to go :)

  • ((HUGS))  I know that's not easy.  We have a whole nursery or reminders.  A week after my loss I took all of the baby outfits out of the drawers and packed them into tubs and moved them to the basement.  They're now down there with the stroller, bathtub, etc.  Every morning when I get ready for work I can see my maternity clothes in our closet.  Believe it or not, it will get easier.  I welled up last night when I saw the tubs with the clothes in the basement, but it usually doesn't bother me anymore.  I can go into the nursery and it doesn't make me cry anymore.  I just tell myself that we will be using all of those things some day and that comforts me.
