So I was one of the lurkers who watched everyone else go into labor and deliver while I was slowly going further and further past my due date of Jan 15th. Finally On 1/20 (the full moon of course) I noticed that I was having more and more back pain as the night progressed. I came to realize that it was contractions once I started noticing a timing pattern. DH called at 740pm to let me know he was on his way home and to see how I was doing, it was then that I broke down in tears and let him know the painful contractions had started, but were 10 mins apart and we couldn't do anything yet.
After DH got home finally at 830pm, he felt bad for all the pain I was in and made me call the babyline at our Dr's office to confirm we couldn't do anything. It was while I was on the phone that the nurse pointed out we were only 2-3 mins apart and we should get going to the hospital (a short 10 mile drive).
We arrived at 10ish and I was already at 5cm and after a brief period of monitoring I was admitted and I could ask for my ITN. We were briefed numerious times on the side effects of constant vomitting, however we agreed that it would be better than an epi since I would still be mobile. Shortly after 1am they measured me at a 10 and we were good to go, however that was when I decided to have my first bout with the vomitting....and what caused my water to break as well.
At 2 the midwife felt I was ready to start pushing and the vomitting was contained. At 320am Hannah Mai was born weighing 8lbs 12ozs and doing a fair amount of damage to her mama. The repair took 1 1/2 hrs and DH had some good bonding time with DD in the process. Today she is one week old and DH and I still can't believe we are finally parents, however now that I am feeling better I can honestly say we both woudn't trade it for anything ![]()
