Anyone ever have one twins with late milestones? My DS is very sturdy and DD is just more loose?! She does not bare any weight on her legs yet and most importantly isn't rolling over. (She is about 5.5 months) I took her to our pedi about a 2 weeks ago for all of my concerns. He is an extremly conservative pedi which is one of the reasons we use him. He isn't the type of doctor to put my kids on unnecessary medication or push therapy when it isn't needed. He has diagnosed her with low muscle tone. I am very concerned about her. The doctor told me to continue tummy time and prop her to sit to increase back muscle strength, but other than that we will just keep an eye on her. As each day goes by, I can't help but wonder if there is more I should be doing. I might take her to another pedi for a second opinion just for my peace of mind. Oh they were born at 37 weeks, so they weren't preemies.
Anyway, did anyone have one of their twins hit their milestones late? How did/is everything work(ing) out? What was the suggestion from your pedi?
Re: Late Milestones
I believe rolling over is no longer a reliable milestone as babies are now spending so much time on their backs.
that being said, my twins never hit their milestones at the same time. Alex rolled over once at 4 months and then didn't do it again until 5 months. Harry was rolling like a crazy man by then. But now Alex is actually the better roller.
I would continue with the tummy time and not really worry too much about it. She'll do it in her time.

I don't think rolling over is a huge milestone anymore. You can always be asked to be referred to someone for a second opinion if that will make you feel more comfortable about it.
My girls never did anything at the same time either. They are 2.5 yrs now and I can't remember when they began rolling over but I know Cay started walking at 9 months the same day that A started to crawl and she didn't walk until 15 months. Cay was also saying words by 12 months and A didn't say a single word until 18 months.
My pedi told me that why would she do anything when she has her sister to bring everything to her and talk for her? Which was true for my girls. But I always ask for a second opinion on anything I am unsure about. HTH.
Neither of mine have ever done anything at the same time either.
E rolled over and sat up first, but M started crawling and "babbling" first. E pulled himself up to standing first and can kind of cruise along furniture, but M just started pulling herself up to standing.
At our 9 month pedi appointment, we had to fill out a questionairre about their physical/cognitive abilities, and they were behind on several things, so our pedi suggested we get an early intervention evaluation to see if they qualify for services. It's free (at least the evaluation) in Illinois.
I agree with the PPs that rolling over isn't a huge milestone anymore, but if you are worried about her not putting weight on her legs, maybe see another pedi or ask your pedi if they can refer you to a PT? Or maybe you could look into seeing if Florida offers anything like the early intervention programs in IL?
