Sleep Help

Any suggestions on how to try and move  Luke's night sleep routine up an hour or two? He typically falls asleep for his long stretch around midnight.

I know it is wishful thinking, but I would like to move it up an hour or two in the next four weeks.

I'm not open to letting him cry it out or anything comparable.

Re: Sleep Help

  • I would start moving the time slowly, maybe 15 minutes every few days or so. Having a consistent routine is really helpful too. Once he begins to associate eat, bath, jammies, read, sing, sleep (or whatever your deal is),  with quiet time and sleeping he will start to relax.

    GL!

This is what I'd do too :) We've done the same bedtime routine with B since he was itty-bitty, he knows exactly what to expect now and it's made bedtime really easy for us.. you know, except for when he's acting like a 2.5 year old :)

  • Thank you! We are up to 11 o'clock now.

Another sleep/BFing question.. When your LO randomly started STTN, did you get up and pump or suffer through? He slept 11-4:30 last night and I had to get up an pump because of engorgement. Once he regularly STTN, I would be willing to suffer through so my body regulates.

  • on those random nights, I got up to pump. He was not a good sleeper so those were rare LOL  I was also protecting my supply for difficulties at various stages so that may have contributed as well.

If it becomes a regular thing, you can pump just to the point of relief to help your body regulate without being miserable.

  • Thanks. That was only the second time in 3 weeks.

P.S. We are still using the KL0s. They are starting to get snug. He weighed 12 pounds and 9 ounces yesterday. I am sad to pack them away.

  • I am glad you have liked them! I was sad too. Nathan made it to 3 months before he was barely 10#.  Are you saving them for #2 or are you looking to sell them again?
  • I never got up to pump.. but I had a milk monster that didn't STTN until he was well over a year old.  We co-slept and I just slept in a nursing tank so he had easy access when he got hungry at night - not typical, but it worked for us, it was the only way I was able to get a decent amount of sleep.

Saving them for number 2. C ended up loving them, when he thought he would hate CDing.

It works for us too. He will sleep with us until he is STTN, if that ever happens.
