I know we're only 5 weeks into this whole parenting thing, but it sure does suck! DS sleeps all day and is up all night. When he IS awake, he screams his head off even though he's clean, dry, and fed. He's on meds for reflux and thrush, but we never skip a dose. We're baffled as to why he would be screaming, and have come to the conclusion that we just have to suck it up and deal with it, because that's how it's going to be

Re: Are the first 3 months supposed to suck?
Aw....your baby is soooo beautiful! I'm sorry that you're going thru this rough period...i'm assuming colic? Have you tried wearing your LO? Do you BF or FF? I know that I had to supplement with formula and most of the time I'd have to give LO some mylicon....

Yep but every week they change sometimes for the worse, sometimes for the better. I think that the first 3 months are the hardest tho.
I would work on getting his days and nights fixed. Being on a good sleep cycle will probably make him a happier baby. During the day have lights and noise (talk in a normal volume). At night do a bedtime routine, the same every night, have it be dark and quiet (speak softly). Do you do the 5 s's?
LO's sleep schedule seems to change every week but it gets better every week. Longer stretches at night makes all of us more enjoyable
I'm sorry things are hard for you. Is it helpful at all to read that you have THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BABY I'VE SEEN, like, EVER!??
I just showed your siggy pics to everyone in the room. Seriously, why is your kid so gorgeous?
It's been getting better though because every day he is more aware of what's going on and content. I can leave him in the swing longer, he tolerates tummy time more, he finally likes his bouncer, he gies thru a bath without crying, etc. The crying for no reason is nonexistent these last few days. If he cries, he's overtired.
I seriously promise you IT GETS SOOOO MUCH BETTER.
Pretty soon you will enjoy it!
This! DH thinks I'm mean but I do not talk, play, make eye contact - NOTHING between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. I became a pro at feeding and changing diapers in the dark. Now he sleeps 11-12 hours without a peep! Hang in there...it will be a distant memory soon.

Are you sure the reflux meds are working properly? Not every LO responds to certain reflux meds.
Are you sure you have the proper dosing, and are dosing it in a correct manner? Not all pedis give out proper dosing information.
A baby screaming all the time is not something you should just have to deal with. I would get a second medical opinion about why your baby is uncomfortable.
::Lurking:: I'm sorry you're having a rough time. Quite honestly, the first 5-6 months sucked for me...but that's probably because I have 2. (Think on the bright side, right?)
Anyway, DD was the exact same way for pretty much...4 months straight. Anytime her eyes were open she was screaming. Trying to feed her? Screaming. Put her in a bouncy? Screaming. Seriously, nonstop. She is now the mellowest baby I've ever seen...DS fusses more than she does! Hang in there mama...it gets better, trust me!
