My grandpa has been in the hospital for a week now and has taken a turn for the worse. He is intubated and on a ventilator and the hospital staff does not anticipate him coming off any time soon. My mom and her sisters signed a DNR this morning. So I am headed to Mississippi tomorrow. I haven't had the chance to talk to my Dr about me flying so I hope it will be ok. I live in California so I'll be traveling all day . I think my family is expecting some answers from me when I get there...(as in my opinion or point of view bc I am in the medical field). But seeing him will be just as hard for me as it is for them. Just bc I see patients like this all the time doesn't prepare me for when it happens to a family member. I hope I can hold it together.

T&P.
Not much to say, I remember my Grandma declining. Its not a good situation. I am glad you can be there with your family.
edited to add: My OB told me to stay hydrated while flying next month and if needed to get up and walk a bit to stay from getting leg cramps. Unless you've had complications you should be fine to fly.

So sorry about your grandfather, I am sure this is hard for you and your family and I hope you find you comfort together
My friend was told for flying while pregnant (she recently flew from Boston to LA) to drink 120OZ of the day before flying to help stay hydrated and to make sure you move your legs every 2 hours. I know the water advice may be a bit late but just get as hydrated as practical at this point
I'm not leaving until tomorrow night on the red eye so I'll drink plenty of water tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!
