Is everything ok with her? I've been wondering sicne she posted about Mya a long time ago... I'll send vibes to her tonight when I get off... damn work for blocking FB!
K, I already told ya this, in not so many words, but I adore you! Thanks honey xoxox
Sorry I have been a little awol lately, there's so much going on with trying to get a photog business happening, two kidlets and whatnot.
Some of you remember about me talking about my big-little poppet, Maya, possibly having Austism Spectrum Disorder and we were on a waiting list for an assessment. Well, today was the day and confirmed what we already knew; she has what they call Autism Disorder.
Older kids usually get an IQ test and whathaveyou and if they score above 70, in a normal or above average range, then they are termed as having 'High Functioning Autism/Aspergers (specialists are currently debating just officially calling HFA and Aspergers one and the same, because they are).
However, Maya's too young for an IQ test so, in the interim, until they know where she will fall in the IQ dept, she will be classed as having Autism Spectrum Disorder. All the terms desibe pretty much the same thing though lol.
The assessors say her prognosis is good; meaning we can do early intervention therapy and RDI (a fairly new therapy; Relationshop Development Intervention). They have advised we start with speech pathology and Early Intervention.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and well wishes!
