2 month old activities

I have read to my little girl from the beginning and she plays alone on her activity mat, but what are some other activities that I can do to interact with her. Thanks

  • Most libraries have storytime for infants. Our local one has several different ones for each age group; 0-12 months, 12-24 months, 24-36 months, then preschoolers. They do nursery rhymes, songs, and stories. It is a lot of fun! And you learn new things that you can use at home.

You can also try to find a mom group in your area. Meetup.com is usually a good place to start.

You can sing to her, dance around with her, buy her a mobile or a rattle to play with.

    Lots of talking!

  • We sing songs.  Sometimes I just sing to him, and other times I put on a CD and play with him to the CD.  We play with one toy at a time, mostly practicing grabbing or getting him to turn his head to one side.  Another good one is bubbles--the Gymboree bubbles are great because they don't pop very easily.  DS loves his bouncy so I'll put him in that for a while.  They also love to look at themselves in a mirror.  We make funny faces or name body parts, etc.

I also recommend a mommy and me class, like Gymboree or Stroller Strides.  They give you great ideas to try at home and help you meet other moms!

  • I sing to her and, while it's not really an "activity," I talk to her all the time! Today I told her all about peeling and cutting carrots, what I was doing, why daddy and mommy eat carrots, etc. She obviously has no idea what I'm talking about, but she was staring at me from her swing and smiling at me!

FI was reading to her from an article one day and talked to her about his new job fears. We just like to talk to her as if she understands!

We also do the mirror thing and I tell her about the people in our photos.

  • I sing and will use a rattle to shake to  the beat of the drum.   I will also use different rattles so that LO can hear the difference between sounds.  I put him in his bouncer and shake the rattle up, and to both sides so that his eyes track it.  I also purchase Wee Sing for babies ($10 on Amazon) and that has lots of songs with activites.  There is also the website productiveparenting.com  It has tons of free activities for all age groups.

  • Here is a website, you can put in your child's age and it will give you an age appropriate activity each day
