Hello girls!

My friend is starting IVF soon and had a question.  You would THINK I would know the answer...since I have been through this before, but I forget.  Can you help!??!

What would be the benefit of DOING or NOT DOING BCP before Lupron.  She was given the choice and doesn't know what the big difference would be.

    It depends how she responds to meds.  We did not even go near lupron for fear of over suppressing my geriatric ovaries.  Both the BCP and the lupron suppress.

    We did an antagonist protocol and used BCP, but no Lupron.

    Some clinics use BCPs purely for scheduling purposes- women cycle in groups.

    Last cycle she got 12 eggs but only 2 fertilized.  What do you think of that?  Is that normal?  She is 30 with MFI issues.

    I hate BCP, and went digging for reasons to avoid them, and somewhere (around here, I think) I read that the BCP is to shut  your brain and testosterone down, to help you make better eggs, and has nothing to do with your ovaries.....

    I could be off, but I just read it somewhere, and with some creative googles, you can find out WTF I'm talking about, lol.

    So you're saying BCP HELPS make better eggs?  So in her case...she is worried about her egg quality..since they got 12 and only ended up with 2 embies.  So she should opt for the BCP?
