1st Trimester

trying to wait....but oh so tempted!!

Obviously all of my thoughts these days are about my little bundle. So in my downtime when i'm bored of course I peek @ all the cute baby clothes, gear, etc....how in the WORLD do you guys keep from buying stuff?! For example, I saw some onesies on sale for like $3!!! I want to get some soooo bad!!!! Just because a)they're cute. b) the price!! But i'm only 8 weeks & While i'm completely optimistic that i'll be bringing home a baby in September I also have to be realistic & realize it's too early to buy stuff.....

so any advice ladies on how not to get tempted? (i've already tried not logging on to any sites & looking at baby stuff, but that's like telling me not to breathe these days lol)

  • Ummmm... let me see the websites with $3 onesies, I think I need to review things in person before deciding you're being silly ;)

  • I've started working on a registry and am just keeping it private for now. I'm researching gear and putting clothes on it. Some of the stuff is gender specific and I figure I'll just go and take stuff off of it before I make the registry public after we find out what we're having. I think it's normal to be thinking ahead like you are.

  • I don't have any advice. If I saw gender neutral onesies for $3, I'd probably buy them :) I am already getting emails from zulily.com and go straight to the baby clothes section in every store I go in. I have just been lucky and not run into any neutral clothes for cheap....
  • It's never too early. :) If you find something cute and unisex, BUY IT. If you bring your baby home, then you'll have something extra for him/her. If you don't bring this baby home, chances are, you'll get pregnant again and bring that baby home. There's no hard-and-fast rule, here.

  • I made myself a rule today.  I can spend $5 a week tops.  1 thing, resale shops only.  We'll see how it goes.

  • thanks a lot everyone. u all make a lot of sense. i especially like the idea of making a registry early but just keeping it private. not many people know of my pregnancy right now so i doubt they'd go looking for my name already :)

  • I all ready have the crib set picked out if we find out we're having a boy...and the other day I saw it brand-new, with tags still attached on Ebay for almost $50 cheaper than in the store....I had to stop myself from buying it! You are definitely not alone!

  • With my first, I didn't wait. I started buying a few things here and there. It's part of the fun, right? :)

This. :) I bought a few things I just couldn't resist. Just some clothes and a little book. It makes it feel more real.

  • I have actually already bought a few gender neutral things... including a $3 onsie from Old Navy. Ha ha! I have only bought a few small things that were on clearance. I am also guilty of buying a few maternity items that were a really good price too!Embarrassed I don't think it is bad luck or anything. If I loose this one we will try again and agin until we have a take home baby so eventually there will be someone who can use the stuff
  • With my first, I made myself wait until after my shower to buy anything.  It was a good incentive for me.  That way I could focus on the stuff we needed.  We got a ton of clothes and I'm so glad I didn't spruge ahead of time.
  • It's hard to wait!  Hang in there because it will only be a matter of time before you will have to start buying things for your little one.

    Good luck!

  • Oh my nursery is already planned out!  I have already started a registry.  It doesn't hurt to look at all!
  • I think it's fine to plan... One of my best friend's have already bought me outfits and has completely planned my shower, done to the most minute details.  I have a 2-seater and am now in the market for a new truck.  I know at 7 weeks, I'm putting the cart before the horse... but for some reason, I know this baby is going to make it... Enjoy!
  • I have been on Craigslist and Freecycle so at least I can get maternity and baby clothes without paying for them, feeling less guilty!  I got a few bags of stuff the other day.
  • I just found the cutest crib bedding for an unbelievable price and bought it. If it doesn't work out or turn out to be the gender the bedding is for, I'll take it back. Maybe I'm just not as sensitive as others, Idk what the big deal is.
