Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Suddenly a total fuss pot around 9 mo! Anyone else?

My normally sweet, happy DD has become a bit of a clingy fuss pot.  She gets upset when I put her down or leave the room which I know is normal seperation anxiety but will throw a mini tantrum if I take a toy away she wants.

It feels like she's frustrated by her limitations and lack of communication.  I would have thought this was normal for a toddler but this is so early!

I've tried to blame teething (anything!) but she has no teeth and no signs of impending teeth (chewing, drooling, etc).

Any one else have a fussy pot and how long did it last?

  • YES!!!!  I've been blaming it on teething(no teeth though) and a cold.  Maybe it's just a phase

Glad we're not alone.  I hope we both see a tooth pop through soon.

  • YES!!!  He justs wants to do so many things that I don't want himt do and when I take something away or move him away from something he wants, he throws the biggest fit!  He arches his back and gets all mad. Glad I'm not alone.
  • Yes! This just started about a week ago. He was a very chill, happy baby. Now he cries if you take a toy or anything else for that matter, away. He gets frustrated easier and isn't trying as hard to pull up to get to something.

I blame some of this on my sister being his babysitter. I think she gives in to him to easily so he won't fuss, which just makes this phase much worse.

We also have some separation anxiety going on, but only when I leave the room.

  • Yes, but it didn't just magically happen at 9 months (it was more like 7.5 months up until now). He is such a mommy's boy that when I'm sitting on the floor and have him in front of me standing up to one of his toys, he will turn around a dozen times to make sure I'm still sitting there. At times, even reach back to get a hug and then want to be put right back up to his toy. It's ridiculous.
