A friend of mine had a baby almost 7 weeks ago. She made a comment about how he has all these tummy troubles. I asked if he was breast or bottle fed and she said she does both, in addition to giving him rice cereal, carrots and apples. What?? She said her pedi told her it was OK since her baby is "hungry all the time". I hate it when people tell me how to raise my child so I feel like it's not my place to say anything but I feel so bad for her baby. He cries all the time, has major gas and poop troubles. Have you ever heard of a pediatrician advising someone to feed their child baby food at 6 weeks old? I've heard of rice cereal for reflux but she never mentioned him having trouble with reflux. Should I say something or leave it alone?

I would say something. Maybe you can call your pedi and ask when you can give baby food. Then when you talk to her say you asked your pedi about when to let LO eat food and he said not until 4-6 months.
I would listen to my dr over my friend but dr to dr would hold more weight.
