Re: What do you use for acne?

  • I use the BellaBoo products, from drugstore.com  They are all natural, and although it took a couple weeks for me to notice anything, it works great now.  I couldn't use any OTC acne treatments that I already had because my skin has become very sensitve.

  • I use products from Acne.org because they only use benzoyl peroxide and that is the only OTC medication that was ok'ed by my OB.

It's not perfect, (very drying and does not leave me completely clear), but it's the best I've been able to find to use as long as I'm pg.

Note:  I suffered from adult acne before pg, so mine is a bit more severe than the kind only brought on by pg hormones.

  • This line is amazing and  they make an actual acne wash for preggo ladies! i have been using it since 15 weeks and my skin looks really good, not great but good ( i have been on accutane in the past)

  • I stopped using my acne wash and started using just regular Dove bar soap.  My skin isn't crazy oily anymore and I'm not breaking out as bad.

  • I use proactive and my regular prescription cream.  Most topical prescriptions acne meds are ok.  Mine was approved by a doctor, a dermatologist, and my midwife.

  • I use Neutrogena stress relief body wash and facial wash. It has .5% salicylic acid in it but I use it. It's the only thing that helps me.

  • No Salicylic Acid!  Well at least it's on my list of things to avoid.  Anyway I use Burt's Bees Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream.  Use a new wash cloth every time you wash (I actually use one at night, then the same one in the AM).  I used to wash without a washcloth, though I ended up getting blackheads everywhere.  Also, try to have a clean pillow case every night or a clean towel on your pillow.  If necessary use a toner, and something with benzoyl peroxide.  Finally, even though it might seem unnecessary, moisturize each night, find what works best for your skin.  Sometimes stripped skin will over produce oil and thus breakout.

  • You should ask your doctor either way. Some don't care if you use Salicylic acid, some do care.

  • After years of not wanting to cough up the cash for it...I am a believer in ProActiv now!  (Well, the cleanser and the repairing lotion anyway..the toner is too drying for me) Before pregnancy and during it has worked wonders for me.  I have had a couple pimples since my BFP, but nothing like it was before I started using this stuff.
