Food strike

Michael has been refusing to eat yellow and orange vegetables and fruit.  Now, he will eat baby food green beans and peas like it is mana from heaven (weird kid, I know.)  The former stuff he acts like it is posion and I am trying kill him.  Drinks formula fine and eats puffs, crackers, Mommy and Daddy's yogurt.  Is this a phase or is there something I can do to "con" him into eating more?  He ate all these things before and Iiked them.

Re: Food strike

  • Two words:  POUCH FOOD! Run - don't walk - to BRU and buy you some!  S eats at least a pouch a day, more now that his molars are coming in.  He gets all kinds of fruits and veggies that way (broccoli, carrots, squash, pumpkin, spinach), and loves to hold the pouch himself and suck all the food out, he can squeeze every last drop out of it too.  You might have to squeeze it onto a spoon for Michael but at his age you can try holding the spout up to his mouth and squeezing.  Plum Baby Organics was on sale last week.  Also Ella's Kitchen makes good ones too and they're cheaper at Whole Foods than BRU.  Good luck, it's a phase, food strikes come and go.

  • For us, at Michael's age was just the beginning of a long cycle of ever changing food likes and dislikes. No end in sight yet. Welcome to pickiness!

  • HAHAHAHAHA.   I laugh only because this is a DAILY thing in our house.   I wear myself out trying to trick C into eating something that he LOVED yesterday but won't touch the next.

Sorry to say, but it will probably only get worse as Michael gets older.

And as for tricks.. I give him all sorts of toys to play with.. blocks.. spoons, etc and just shove a spoon in his mouth when he's not paying attention to me.   I also mix a lot of stuff together and disguise it in something he likes.. like green veggies.

  • Ditto blending it in to other things. Puree it really well and add to applesauce (if he'll eat that) or mashed potatoes. Chop it really small, add it (the loathsome vileness) and something he is liking - like peas or meat to rice.

If he'll eat french fries, try sweet potato french fries. M loves those.

  • Thank you for all the suggestions.  I WISH we had a BRU near us.  The closest are about 3 hours away and it is the same for a Whole Foods Store.  (I can drive to 3 Wal-Marts within 30 minutes of my house.)

We are also waiting for his first tooth.  I have been a little scared to give him table food because of the lack of teeth and choking.

You can also get from amazon - and their subscribe and save prices are great.

We just keep everything in the rotation and somedays she likes it and somedays not!  I do make sure that there's one of her go to foods at most meals though.

Sarah used to love pouch food and I stocked up on them, now she is refusing to eat them too. Sigh. I have like 1,000 pouches at home now.
