I am 1cm dilated and pretty soft. Are any of you guys? I know some people are 3 or more. If this isn't your first child how many of you went into labor being 1cm dilated?
I didn't have a cervical check today, but last week at 37w I was just a finger tip dilated and very soft (same for the check at 36w). With DS I was maybe 1cm dilated (I think less) at 39w and I went into spontaneous labor on my due date just one week later. I obviously didn't have a cervical check in between, but when I got to the hospital after just 4 hours of active labor I was already 7cm.
A possibility was born the day you were born and will live as long as you live.

On Tuesday at 37 weeks I wasn't dilated at all, 50% effaced and -2 station. That's why I was a little freaked when the dr started talking about inducing me -- I know there's a way better likelihood of induction working (and not ending up in a c-section) if I were further progressed.
I was 1 cm at my 36 week appointment. My doctor won't check me again until I appear to be in labor, so I don't know if that has changed. With all of these contractions, I certainly hope so. lol
Dee,
Mommy to: Sofia, born 2/9/11, as well as three dogs, two cats and a multitude of chinchillas.
At my last appointment (a week ago today), I was no dilated and no thinning out. We'll see what they say tomorrow. I guarantee you I have made zero progress.
About 1 cm here and baby doesnt seem to have any plans of coming out any time soon. although if my bp and swelling continue he may not have much of a choice.
I'm due nex week and am only 1 cm and 30 percent effaced. I still don't feel any contractions (BH included) or have any signs of labor any time soon. Hopefully I'll be one of those people that just has her water break, and I'll be off to the hospital. Wishful thinking? Maybe.
at my appt today i was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. im a little over 37 weeks. dr did say he has dropped. she felt the head. but she said that he probably wont be coming next week but you never know.
At my 37.5 wk appointment yesterday I was still closed, possibly softening a little. Baby is low but nothing happening here. I haven't felt any BH either so I am thinking it might be a while before Baby P arrives

I am in the same boat due in less than a week and 1cm dialated (if the Dr. wasn't just trying to be nice).
I'm all closed up but soft and long and baby is not in birth canal so my dr says I'm probably going to be late, which isnt surprising to me because my first DD was 9 days late. I never went into labor natually, they induced me because during my 41 week+ appt they saw that the placenta was getting old and there wasnt enough fluid. I was probably about 2cm and 85% effaced.

1 cm yesterday. A week ago I was closed but 50% effaced (she didn't say how effaced I was yesterday). So I feel like this is progress! And my doctor certainly seemed to indicate that things are progressing normally.
1cm and 50% effaced as of last Monday. I have a lot of contractions so we will see if there is any change this upcoming Monday.
I was talking to my BCBS nurse and she said that while dilation and effacement are both important (obviously) you cannot progress with dilation without effacement so as long as you are thinning out then dilation doesn't matter as much because you can go from snail speed the mach 10 dilation in matter of time.
At 38 weeks (the 1st time I was checked) I was 1 cm and 70% effaced. Baby is very low. I have days with lots of BH contractions and cramping and days with much less.

Nope, it's their way of saying a bit dilated, but not even 1cm.
