Success after IF

Anyone's LO have a plugged tear duct?

DD has one.  Our pedi is very non-alarmist (yay) and suggested we wait to see if it opens on its own.  So far it hasn't.  Its mostly watery and rarely gunky.  At their 6 mo appt the CNP mentioned that we'll need to start talking about it if it hasn't cleared/opened by their 9 mo appt.

So... if you were in a similar situation did it open on its own?  Did you have to have it probed?  And if so, did it work?  I must admit I'm really hesitant about the probe.  My nephew had his tear duct probed twice and its still gunky.

  • Yep.  Lily did.  It opened up on its own around 4 months, I think.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • Preston and Brady both had this. We just would take a warm damp wash clothes and massage under the eye.

ditto. Zoey's seems plugged again due to having a cold, so we're doing the massage thing again.

  • Yes, Little M had a clogged tear duct and it took 5 months to go away. I did everything, warm compress, massage, and then I finally jsut left it alone like her ped said.

  • Both DS and DD had clogged left ducts. DS cleared up by massaging on it's own. For DD we just got drops from the pedi because it was getting very goopy and sealing her eye shut. After a few days of drops, it has cleared up.
