Where did you get LO's First Hair Cut?

Were taking Belle for her first hair cut this weekend. We were thinking of just taking her to Supercuts. I was wondering though if there were any cute kids salons in the Buffalo area (we live in Lancaster). Where did you take LO to get their first hair cut?

  • I would suggest NOT taking her to my mom.  Smile  I think Claire will be 22 before her hair grows out normally.

  • for ethan's 1st haircut we took him to kids cuts n more(or  something like that) it's in a house on sheridan near transit.  it is a woman and she has the basement of her house set up like a salon. There is a seperate entrance.  he sat on a zebra and htere is  a play area. it was nice.  since then he goes to kids cuts r fun on sheridan near the blvd.  The woman(maggie) is great with him.  she remembers him and cuts his hair very quickly.
  • I just took him to my hairdresser... she's a friend of mine, so I felt more comfortable having her do it than a stranger.

I took him to Kids Cuts are Fun (?) on Sheridan in Tonawanda, and was not impressed. I called to make an appointment and when I got there it was soooo crowded and we had to wait almost 30 minutes past our appt time. The women was kind of a beast, and super rushed. His hair looked ok, but I had to re-trim pieces that she missed. I know it's hard to cut a wiggly toddlers hair, but she didn't even try to take her time or get him to calm down.

    that's the place I like.

  • We took DS to the barbershop where DH gets his hair cut, I think DS was a little over 2.  Honestly, he still barely needed a cut but it was getting a bit long in the back and starting to come over his ears a bit.  They gave him a special "my first haircut" certificate with a lock of hair on it and tried to entertain him during the cut, but he still freaked out when they were doing it (and he's normally very chill).  Since then I have just picked up a pair of barber scissors and touch up the back and sides at home to avoid the "trauma", he seems to tolerate me doing it better.
