As you may or may not know, Ryan has a "compromised" immune system. We don't know why, don't know if its tied to the potential CP or what, but he gets these random, high fevers, typically with no other symptoms.
Our deal with the doc is that if it passes 104, we go in and have tests run, make sure he's not deydrated, etc.
DH was home with him yesterday and he had a fever all day. It was going up and down, but even with piggybacking motrin and tylenol, it went up a degree in an hour.
I still didn't want to take him (by this time, it was 104.5), so I went to rock him in his room. Within a few minutes, he was having a god-awful febrile seizure, so once he "woke up," we took him in. Arrived at 8pm, and they sent us home this morning, just long enough for me to drop DH and Ryan off, jump in the shower and go into work on 35 minutes of sleep.
It looks like it's his cyclic fevers again, he gets these, often with no other symptoms other than not wanting to eat/drink much, then we worry about dehydration and him deteriorating quickly (like he tends to do) so our doc sends us in. All of his labs, radiology, etc came back clean, thankfully. Today, he slept until 3:30pm, went back down at 4:30, we woke him up at 6:45 and he's going to be out for the night soon. He ate a few bites of mashed potatoes, drank a sippy of water, so we'll see how he does.
BTW, the dang nurses couldn't get blood from him. He was stuck six times (2x 3 nurses) before I requested someone else. They sent a paramedic down and he got it, but even then, they couldn't get hardly any blood from him. OH and he wasn't so fond of the catheter either :-(
