Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Did you give registry info with baby shower invite?

Reading the post below I see many people say giving the registry info with the invitation is not "proper".....really? It must be an area thing, because I've never been to, given one, or received a shower, wedding (shower, not actual wedding) or baby, without giving the registry info. Granted, the shower is always given by someone else, but that's just how it's done where I'm from.

Re: Did you give registry info with baby shower invite?

  • etiquette actually says that it's okay for a baby shower - not okay for a wedding shower.

  • No, it was word of mouth for both wedding and baby showers.
  • Wow, I have never heard that, I've even been to "upscale" (if you will) showers & always a registry thing with the invite, usually from the store they registered at!
  • It really must depend on the area, cause I've never heard that & ALWAYS received registry info!
  • The purpose of a wedding or baby shower is to "shower" the mother or bride with gifts.  Gifts are the point of the party.  A registry is expected.

A birthday is NOT about gifts.

    They're different

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

I definitely agree about birthdays, I would never do it & I've never seen it done!

  • It's ok for a baby shower, but not for a wedding.
  • It was on the bottom of my baby shower invite, I agree with stgdva too, its definitly not appropriate on a wedding invite, I really didn't even want it on the baby shower invite, but it was a surprise shower so I didn't have much of a choice
  • Yes it was in my baby shower invite, not in my wedding invite.
  • My registy info was on the bottom of my baby shower invite.  That's the purpose of a shower...to shower with gifts.

  • I did for my sister's baby shower.  Saved me the questions!  I just figured that I like to know that info.  I'm a registry fan.  I like giving what the guest of honor needs/requests, even if I find it boring. I've been given some weird stuff just because someone else thought it was neat.  Great.  Because my storage room isn't full enough....

  • For those who said not for the wedding.....do you mean the wedding SHOWER or the actual wedding invitation? Just curious, cause around here it's definitely a no-no for the wedding invite, but a given for the wedding shower invite.
