PW- Will I loathe my umbrella stroller?

I registered for and received this: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3420855 back when I was PG and clueless.  Now I like to think I am slightly less clueless and suspect this stroller is going to be pretty crappy for much besides quick trips and travel.  No basket, no cupholders, it just looks flimsy...  Our big jogger-style is this: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3955968 which I love but sometimes I need something smaller/narrower.  I've seen some Cybex ones on BabySteals from time to time that seem promising but haven't pulled the trigger yet because I'm unsure.  Anyone want to talk me into or out of looking into a sturdier, basket-ed model?

  • I would put it in your Dh's vehicle for when he needs it for a quick errand or something. :) I always used a big stroller with all the extras because I just used it more than DH did. He preferred the simple stroller and actually made the arms taller so it'd fit him better! Just a thought. I think you'll prefer having the bells and whistles, especially the drink holder and bag/pouch for storage space when shopping.

  • We have the same umbrella stroller and bought it have on our boat since it folds up so small. (for those ice cream trips up the street from any given dock). :). This time of year I keep it in my car in addition to our double in case I need it for only 1 kid. DH can grab it for his car etc. It does suck, but it serves a purpose. I like your 3 wheeler and like Kim said, you will like the cupholders when out shopping! Take that into consideration when looking for any new stroller additions!

  • I have always used  my large graco quattro with both kids as my primary stroller. We do have a "travel" but it's not an umbrella, it has adjustable seat, snack tray, cup holder and small storage basket. I dont understand where people put things with an umbrella, even when traveling you have stuff with you.

  • Yeah you won't like to use that for your go-to stroller.  You might like it for the airport.  Or for a quick trip into a store.  But those cheap umbrella strollers are often pretty short too - even for me and i'm only 5'5", I felt like I had to stoop over our cheapie.

A lot of people love their Maclaren umbrella strollers.  But I couldn't live without cup holders or a snack tray for the kid.   So I prefer non-umbrella strollers.

And this is why I recommend to anyone to just get a snap n go before the baby comes and wait to get a "real" stroller til after the baby's here and you know what you need.  LIke I would never have gotten my stroller because I hate the basket underneath...

  • You could always take it and turn it in at BRU for 25% off something you really want.  :)

  • It's was our toddler stroller, and it was so nice to have something small and lightweight for trips to the mall and such when she was still walking. It's not really for little ones IMHO, but there is an age where we used the heck out of the one Knemo gave us.

I agree too that it's a great stroller to have in the trunk, and at almost 2, I only use it at the outlet mall when I need to look at the clothes without running around or carrying her (I have trouble carrying her for long periods of time). Otherwise we make her walk and hold our hand.

  • I think that is the same one we have, just a different color. We bought ours for our trip to Montana last year because we had a small vehicle then and our stroller took up most of the trunk. We still use it for traveling or quick trips when he isn't in the mood for the Ergo. I don't love it, but I definately use it, just not as my go to stroller.
