Harper is unisex, though it is gaining popularity quickly as a girl's name. I think the most common association most people will think of is Harper Lee, a woman. I think most people in 2011 would think of this as a girl's name.
I don't really like the name. It is one of those names that I think is too feminine for a boy and too masculine for a girl.
I just checked on babynames.com. It's #11 (top 100 names) for girls, and #92 for boys. Any other suggestions for unusual first names that are similar then?

That's our boy name. I've heard Harper is more of a girl name. What do you think?
I know you have asked this on the 1st tri boards and at least once here... it is GIRLS name. Are you just trying to get different opinions? Why are you re-asking the same things?
Not trying to be a snot, just curious why this keeps being posted...
I think your first association with the name forms your opinion on what gender it fits. Mine? I had a Great Uncle Harper who was a giant, cigar smoking, Archie-Bunker type man so even though it is really popular as a girls name now, I will always have a manly cigar smoke association with it.
Originally a boys' name or no, it's just not nice. Everyone's been pretty nostalgic about To Kill a Mockingbird lately; Harper for girls and Atticus for boys are on the rise in the quirky, hipsters group.
Honestly, it pays off to find something more masculine.
Re: Harper Robert
Are you sure it's not your girl name?

I like Harlan
Don't do the first initial / middle name thing to him... he will forever be correcting people...
It definitely wasn't my idea, lol! I do like Henry better.
LOVE Henry! I definitely think girl when I hear the name Harper.

I have a nephew named Harper- and it fits him perfectly.
I had never heard of the name till he was born, and now I have heard it several time for girls, but whatever. It is cute!
